John Gibson on FNC today talked about this accident and about how he had a worse fall from a horse when he was 10 years older than Madonna is now, which broke his pelvis. He was very fortunate that his injuries were not much worse.

That's what I was trying to say. These people like Reeves believe what their trainers tell them and get way ahead of themselves. It has a negative impact on horses and horseback riding.

"the Material Girl would find it painful to sing during the first couple of weeks"

I find her singing painful as well.

It's funny, but a lot of men (especially those who come to the sport late) are very stiff in the saddle.

I think it's because they want to "muscle" their way into a correct form, they think they can achieve position by main force. Especially somebody as muscular as Reeve. If they stick with it, they realize that they have to relax and be soft and still and deep in the saddle. But I think it's harder for guys to do that.

I found a short clip of Reeve riding a crossrail on BBC and he didn't look that bad though.

My fall was slowed by hitting a support beam on the way down.

Was this a good or a bad thing?

Why give Hollywood any press at all except for their performances? That is all they deserve. Advertise their movies/concerts/plays and then ignore them. I am sure there were many people who fell off their horses this week. Why is it important when Madonna does it? It's not.

Oh quit crabbing at me.

I posted it because it's horse related, and like it or not, she's news... Actually, it spurred a pretty interesting conversation. Yes, others have fallen from horses. Some of them on this very thread.

I knew you did it because it was horse related. I have been dumped off of horses many times. It was not important enough to mention. I am sick to death with self important celebrities. If you post stuff be prepared to be crabbed at. ;9)

I am so pleased that I only had to read 14 posts to see a Catherine the Great reference. I love the commentary on FR.

OK - fine... Crab at me. You're not going to keep celebrities out of the news, and I'm not going to let it take the shine off my sunny disposition. :~D

>The problem with madonna is she is a BEGINNER. It happens. Know ones knows what the circumstances were.<

Anybody want to take bets that, as this was a new horse, it was an expensive horse, one a beginner has no business on? There's a saying, "old horses for young (or new) riders, old riders for young horses". Heaven forbid Madonna be seen on an old experienced babysitter. We have to keep up appearances, you know.

More people get in trouble trying to ride horses they're not ready for than anything else, and in many cases, the horse ends up paying by being sent to auction.
