Envoy to UN: Pullout should end UN hostility toward Israel
By Reuters

The Gaza pullout should mark an end to UN hostility against Israel, UN Ambassador Dan Gillerman said on Monday, urging the world body to support the withdrawal as a historic move toward peace.

The comments echoed previous calls by Israel and the United States to halt the litany of anti-Israel resolutions passed by the UN General Assembly each year and dismantle the extensive bureaucracy built up around the Palestinian cause.

"It is time for the United Nations to acknowledge Israel's actions," Gillerman told a news conference. "We hope that in the United Nations there will be no more business as usual as far as the Middle East is concerned ... No more Israel-bashing, no more ongoing resolutions which keep repeating themselves time after time."

The 191-nation General Assembly, dominated by developing nations, usually passes about two dozen resolutions criticizing Israel each year, often virtually identical to previous resolutions.

The resolutions put forward by Arab states typically win the support of the vast majority of UN members, opposed only by Israel, the United States and a few Pacific island states.

Sure this will happen... and a squadron of kosher pigs will be seen flying over UN headquarters when it does.

I can't blame Gillerman for trying. I just think the U.N. is hopeless.

I wonder how much these idiots are paying for what they're smokin'? They gotta be spending the big bucks to get the kinda stuff that'll make them that stupid. Unless they get shipments directly from Osama's poppy crop.

Yep.

The UN hates Jews and, to a lesser extent, Christians. Period. Paragraph.

The UN has already weighed in. The moment of hope Kofi refers to is that the Jews will just leave Israel, and go somewhere

Road map sponsors to meet in mid-Sept., Annan says

By The Associated Press

NEW YORK - The sponsors of the road map - the United Nations, the United States, the European Union and Russia - will meet in mid-September to assess Israel's disengagement from Gaza and the northern West Bank, Secretary-General Kofi Annan's spokesman said yesterday.

Annan said the disengagement offers "a moment of promise and hope," and the four parties will assess the prospects for revitalizing the peace process as the handover to the Palestinians proceeds, spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.

The Quartet will meet on the sidelines of a UN summit from Sept. 14-16, he said. Annan has invited world leaders to UN headquarters to mark the 60th anniversary of the world body by overhauling its aging structures to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

At the Quartet's last meeting in London on June 23, members reaffirmed support for Israel's pullout - calling it "a moment of optimism, an opportunity that should not be missed," and urging both sides to use the momentum to revive the road map.

The road map outlined a blueprint for ending the Palestinian-Israeli violence that began in 2000, and establishing a Palestinian state. It was accepted by both Israel and the Palestinians in 2003, but neither side implemented key obligations - including a full settlement freeze by Israel and a crackdown against terrorism by the Palestinian Authority.

In the June statement, the Quartet reaffirmed that "the two-state vision and the road map are the best way to achieve a permanent peace and an end to [Israel's] occupation" of the West Bank and Gaza.

Dujarric said yesterday that Annan is hopeful the disengagement "will be executed in a peaceful and smooth manner."

There is NO WAY the UN will every support the United States or Israel. It is run by fascist dictators who keep slaves and harems.

Oh, sure.(Not.)On C-Span this am, and replayed a couple of minutes ago, a Mr. Jones...of the Rand org.. He'd authored or co-authored a study on Palestinian autonomy. According to him, Israel and Palestine are two peas in a pod, Siamese twins doomed to coexist in the same area, so they must live in peace. Mr. Jones is a great believer in moral equivalency.

He did admit that former Palestinian leaders, to wit, Arafat, were hopeless corrupt. But this new leader promises to pursue peace, and Mr. Jones takes him at his word. Mr. Jones said it's essential the US bankroll Palestine as it takes over the Gaza. The US (from his tone, he felt the rest of the gang...World Bank, the West, Europe, the UN, were bit players) must not only give money, but expertise, equipment, security, and education to the Palestinians as they set up their brand new state.

Any funds we make available to Israel should be matched dollar for dollar (no, the word, 'loan', was never mentioned), to Palestine. Oh, here's the best part! The US has to set up a security force to protect Palestine and separate them from Israel. Boots on the ground. He made some mention of the Clinton accords in passing, so I guess Bill will get all the credit as this plays out. A caller asked if religion was important to the average Palestinian, and Jones said, well, yes, they're all Muslims, but very few are what you might call terrorists. Hardly worth mentioning. Besides, the Bible was full of hellfire and damnation, too, not just the Koran. The caller wanted to know what religion Mr. Jones was, but was ignored.

We knew this was coming. Not only are we supposed to prop up the Palestinians and pay for the privilege, but we're to arm them to the teeth. The lunatics are in charge of the asylum.

No, but it does create a target rich, free fire zone. Looking forward to a whole bunch of good Muslims (pig poop be upon them).

Search for the next great Jewish comic is over.

I hate to think he is serious and is conveying the thoughts of the Israeli Government. Even they are not that crazy. Although I'm not so certain lately.

I suppose that's what happens when you feel you have to say something. Diplomacy would be advanced if most diplomats were issued mouth zippers.
