AUGUST 16--Meet Larry Northern. The Texas man, 59, was arrested last night and charged with criminal mischief for allegedly driving his pickup truck over wooden crosses erected near the roadside campsite of Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who has brought her antiwar protest to President George W. Bush's Crawford doorstep. A row of the memorial crosses, which carry the names of U.S. soldiers killed during the Iraq war, were destroyed when Northern, a Waco resident, allegedly drove his truck (which was dragging a pipe and chains) over them. The crosses are part of an encampment Sheehan has dubbed "Camp Casey" in honor of her late son, a 24-year-old Army Specialist killed in action last year. Sheehan has said she will not budge from the road leading to the president's ranch until he meets with her to explain "why our sons are dead."

I totally understand this guy's frustration with these jerks-- but this kind of thing will only get them sympathy.

I'd love to find a way to embarrass them and turn them into laughingstocks in the eyes of other Americans. They've worked VERY hard over the years to get to where they now are, in a ditch. Just leave them be. I think they're doing OK on their own.
I also believe that when the MSM acts the way it's acting with her, they lose a few more listeners-watchers. I'd like to be a god (small g) that could actually see people mentally decide never to watch or believe them again. I do believe there is a discrete number, an identifiable group that will never be in their audience again.
In short, take heart.....this is backfiring on them, just like the Wellstone Memorial.

I'll wager that if the subject were someone like Teddy Kennedy, the part about going to the multimillion dollar DEMOCRATIC fundraiser would have been conveniently omitted. Right!
Btw, NBC News and Kelly O'Donnell just did a GLOWING story on this tool of a woman on this night's news. Not a single mention of any of her absurd and inflammatory opinions or the dissonance in her family!!! God, I hate the Lamestream Media. They still do generally rule over most ignorant minds in this sick country.
****
The old Dem./liberal/socialist media is America's most ruthless, relentless, and destructive enemy.

Well, I for one do support and defend him.
His action have already helped me laugh at the FAKE stupid crosses that the LEFTIES have put up for the FAKE support she is offering for her son's sacrifice.
He was angry and so an I.

This guy was a complete moron and I'm amazed there are people here who would support or defend him. Ditto.

"Are these jackasses blocking the roadway? Camping on easement? Picking up their litter?"
From the couple of photos that I've seen the makeshift "memorial" appeared to be on the shoulder of a public road.

That was posted to show the legality or non-legality of such displays. To my way of thinking, they are roadside obstructions and have no standing as property.

I am afraid I agree . The place for flowers and memorials is in the graveyard.

You are absolutly correct. This man is taking his protest to directly. He should definitly have more nuance.
Like rounding up some rattlers and other critters, and dropping them off in the vicinity as a parting gift. Catch and release. The PETA contingent would be very proud of someone like that.
I use to collect all kinds of bugs, by the quart and pour them into peoples cars while they were away from them. Bags full of wasps and bees are nice gifts also. Their humming is a definite vocal aid while chanting mantras.
Floral displays of Bullnettle and other such local flora found in the area could be delivered.
There is no end of wonderful Texana available, that these people are missing out on.

How long before some DUer says the chains were left over from dragging black people? That thought had occurred to me. But I didn't want to be the one to bring it up.
To: clamper1797
I'm with you.
Crimminal behavior, destrunction of property and perhaps wreckless driving, not to be condoned of course. But you know sometimes there's a miscarriage of justice in a courtroom ;-)
I'll bet it'd be hard to find 12 Texans that wouldn't have at least one holdout against conviction.

Cindy shows no respect for her deceased son. He was proud to serve his county. To take his face and name and used it as a weapon against his fellow soldiers is shameful. Media who call the area, "Camp Casey" are also showing disrespect for the values that the real Casey Sheehan held dear. That area of the road could be called Cindy's Ditch, Camp Cindy, Cindy's Last Stand, Ditch Witch Hollow, ...
Any other suggestions?
To: Chuck54
Thanks............. that's pretty much how we used to do it back in the 50's. It was pretty dusty, but it sure loosened up all the stones......... then the kids got to do a military walk (about five feet apart) across the infield with buckets in hand picking up the stones. Voila....... a nice infield.

He was angry and so an I.
So be angry, just don't be stupid like that guy. He managed to get himself charged for a crime and make Sheehan a more sympathetic character at the same time.
