If there was ANYTHING the Bush administration should have been concerned with in its first term it was how this travesty, this outrage of 9/11 happened despite the entire defense and intelligence establishments 'best' efforts.

Knowing just how and why our government failed us (miserably) is indeed equally important to attacking the terrorists in this War on Terrorism. Maybe it is more important.

I'm thoroughly dissatisfied with Bush's efforts in this endeavor. He has said nothing. He has not told us anything about how and why this failure transpired. Not one public official has been fired specifically for failing his or her duties to protect the nation.

How dare this administration screw around with a pointless refit of the Social Security System while such other truly weighty matters are ignored?

Obviously whatever sickness eating away at our governmental system which not only allows such a failure but then covers up the problem .... is the most dangerous enemy we have.

Bush says nothing.

Bush can't do it himself - he's limited by the integrity/lack of integrity of those who do the actual digging. For him to keep harping at it would be the equivalent of crying over spilt milk; once it's spilt the job is to mop it up, not ponder how it happened. Why should Bush lower himself to the level of Slick Willie, who now claims that if he had still been President when some of the info came out (he was, but why quibble) he woulda attacked first and stopped 9-11, blah, blah blah...

The fact that we haven't had another attack on our soil in the last 4 years speaks volumes of how Bush and company want to know how things got out of hand and to stay ahead of the power curve. Like he says; he's results-oriented, not a snivelling whiner about the past that can't be changed. Anyone who thinks his knowledge is limited to the paltry info from the commission and other studies is a fool; he just won't moan about it to no good purpose.
