"In reality it's one crank among thousands of citizens" But there are still a very large number of people in Texas who hate Republicans because Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. The few KKK members I've met were all Democrats.

The KKK had Republicans in their stated hated groups along with Jews, Catholics, and black people.
I think this changed in some parts of the country in the 1920s.
