Even if the show had been any good it was doomed anyway. Military shows never do well during the wars they attempt to portray.
It's just too soon for a good show about Iraq, let alone a bad one.
Evermore...
ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Yep. And Boccho, the creator of the series, said in an interview that it would be an accurate and balanced portrayal of our troops in Iraq...there would be no politicizing of events.
Hollywood elites will not "get it" until their revenues dry up and they're destitute.
And, at the end of the show, the bomb the poor farmer's house (with wife) to destroy the stingers...
Not clueless. Lazy.
Hollyweird loves to show officers in a bad light....sort of like the way they consistently portray corporate executives. As a formerofficer with combat experience in RVN, I resent the hell out of it.
T'was ever thus.
Wouldn't it be refreshing to see the US military trash Hollywood?
I watched it, ONCE. When I saw a soldier take off his helmet and pace back and forth in the road looking like he was lost after an IED exploded I KNEW it was BS.
Thank you for confirming the wisdom of my decission not to watch. I was just unable to believe they would "get it right." Evidently, they didn't.
Which was EXACTLY their point!
There are several hundred thousand Americans who have been to Iraq, gotten the combat training needed to survive there, and could have advised the shows creators on how things are actually done. Many troops winced as they watched the actors make one fatal mistake after another. It would be funny, it it weren't for the memories of friends who made those same mistakes and got killed or injured because of it.
I dont doubt the show stinks, though I havent watched any of it and cant say. But this complaint is utterly nonsensical.
Any trained soldier could have told them that soldiers dont make these mistakes, and it would be funny how wrong the show is if it wasnt sad because of memories of friends who made these mistakes.
Theres a bit of a disconnect there.
Doubt that "E-Ring" will be any better. The only reason there's any hope is that Jerry Bruckheimer is producing, and his short-lived series a few years ago on US troops in Afghanistan was outstanding.
They will never get it right because they don't want to get it right.
There are plenty of people that are or have fought this war that could advise on all the items mentioned by the writer.
There were only three movies they made about Vietnam I liked Platoon Leader (not Platoon), Hamburger Hill and We Were Soldiers. The rest of them I wouldn't piss on.
Liberals with their ends justify the means politics don't seem to mind helping Al Qaeda and the Islamo-Fascists win the war on the information and communication front.
We've finally given liberals a war against fundamentalism, and they don't want to fight it. They would, except it would put them on the same side as the United States. Ann Coulter
"Hollywood elites will not "get it" until their revenues dry up and they're destitute."
Isn't that the truth! From the commercials previewing this show I knew it would be nothing worth watching.
Make no mistake... they will NEVER admit to being out-of-touch with our military and what is actually going on Over There.
