In light of recent events, I thought this article, FROM APRIL 3, 2005 was relevant.
Weldon said that in 1999, the INS reported that 205,000 non-immigrants were admitted to the U.S. from terrorist-harboring countries. Earlier this year, he noted, the Census Bureau reported that 114,000 people from Middle East nations were living in the United States illegally.
"We also need to be more diligent in tracking aliens who are here legally. Since the INS is unable to catch a notorious name like Mohammed Atta, one can only imagine the state of affairs in keeping track of the 11 million legal aliens within our borders," Weldon said.

Isn't this just great? The White House wants to give amnesty to illegals already here, but children of CITIZENS applying to come here LEGALLY have to wait up to 18 years to get into the United States. You need to note this is the First Family Preference, which is supposed to be the highest preference for relatives of CITIZENS immigrating LEGALLY. In the interim INS laws do not even allow the CHILDREN of CITIZENS to visit their parents within the United States. I should add that relatives of GREEN CARD holders in the Second Family Preference can now come here much faster than any of the relatives of CITIZENS in the Family Preferences. I love President Bush, and contributed the maximum to his last two campaigns, but why do I get the feeling he cares more about illegal aliens than CITIZENS?

I found this article from April. Interesting comments by Weldon toward the end. I think he may have been in the know for some time now, and only recently came out with the info on Able Danger, maybe waiting on the agents involved to get ready for the publicity and exposure.
Just a theory.
