Sen. Biden Says Bush Should Fire Rumsfeld
By RANDALL CHASE, Associated Press Writer 57 minutes ago
President Bush needs to fire Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and level with the American people about the situation in Iraq, said U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden (news, bio, voting record), who is testing the political waters for a possible White House run in 2008.
Following up on remarks he made Sunday, Biden said the Bush administration is downplaying expectations in Iraq, and that he wouldn't be surprised if a partial withdrawal of U.S. troops is announced before parliamentary elections scheduled for December.
But the senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said a premature withdrawal of U.S. troops would be unwise, given that the biggest problem in Iraq, as he sees it, is "the lack of order."
Biden disputed administration claims that more than 175,000 Iraqis have been trained to take over security duties from U.S. troops.
In reality, only a few thousand Iraqi troops are capable of carrying out security operations on their own, and another 12,000 or so can operate successfully only with the help of U.S. troops, Biden said. He said there is "no possibility" of Iraqis being able to maintain control themselves without at least another year of training.
"Why doesn't the president just tell the truth?" said Biden, adding that Rumsfeld should have been fired a year ago for incompetence whether it be sending too few U.S. troops or failing to equip them adequately that approaches "criminal."
"The president's got to get rid of Rumsfeld," he said.

"Sen. Biden Says Bush Should Fire Rumsfeld"
Wait, did Biden say it himself, or did he plagiarize it from someone else?

Biden is a major league POS. The fact that he is a member of the US senate and even mentioned as a potential POTUS is a pathetic commentary on the state of our government

Has Biden even been to Iraq? Think he was about a year ago. Of course that qualifies him as an expert. I wouldn't trust this guy as dog catcher yet alone POTUS. The fact that he is a senator for so long speaks volumes about how low our standards must be.

the Dems know the partial troop withdrawals are coming in 2006 - so they want to play it as "cut and run".

A year ago? Really? Senator Biden certainly has his elbow on the pulse of Iraq then, doesn't he? ;)

Smack on! This a$$hole has figured he can try a McGovern type move on the WH by being the first one out of the gate pandering to the bleeding-heart kool aid drinking MSM. It is a hell of a gamble since he figures that when 08 comes arounds, Iraq will be in a state of Civil war, a quagmire with no end in sight.
BUT
What if he is wrong?

Why has Sen. Biden not been arrested for treason against the United States of America yet?
Seriously, why has he not been arrested yet?

The fact that he is a senator for so long speaks volumes about how low our standards must be. No, just Delaware.
Look at the rest of the rest of the majority of the statewide office holders there.......There are a few good ones - but on the whole they are nothing to write home about. and I called that state home for a long time, and my husband grew up there..........

Biden wouldn't get elected Dog Catcher in Delaware if it weren't for the Gays and Lezbians in Rehoboth and Dewey.

Just how in the hell does this rest on Rumsfeld's shoulders? The Pres told him to go to war and he had to do it with what was available to him at the time. I'd say he did a pretty damned good job, considering the previous administration tried like hell to gut our military readiness.
The Secretary of Defense does not control outfitting or recruiting for the US military. He is nothing more than the go between of the Pentagon and the Pres. If Biden wants to fire somebody, I suggest he weasel his way on over to the Pentagon and see how many real military men will listen to his crap. They will send him packin' inside of two minutes, the idiot!
Biden needs to crawl back under his rock. He doesn't have the slightest idea what in the hell he is talking about.
