Republicans have to fix the disparity in party membership or, long term, we're sunk.
Fastest-growing large demographic, plus millions more illegals coming in whose children then are legals means that the future belongs to the party that captures this demography.

Ditto to Kevinjdeanna. In October 1992 George Bush (the elder), Carlos Salinas (Mexico), and Brian Mulroney (Canada) signed NAFTA on the Rio Grande. It was supposed to be the glorious beginning of one big North American economic union, i.e. no more borders. The powers-that-be, both Dims and Republicans, don't want a border. The Dims want more poor illiterate peasants that they can sign up (an x will do.) The country club division of the Republican Party wants cheap labor, including maid service. We are now a geographical region; what was once a nation is now a conclave.
So 83% of hispanics consider illegal immigration to be a problem, yet neither side will touch the issue.
Interesting survey. Thanks.
This is the reason Bush won't do anything about open borders. I don't care how many plans for border control comes up, Bush won't sign a one of them. Why go against what he and his family have longed for for years? The destruction of America as a sovereign nation to benefit their slave labor buddies.
You're absolutely right. If the party can get loudmouth anti-illegals like Tancredo to shut their mouths for a decade, the Repubs won't undo Karl Rove's ingenious inroads into the Hispanic community. I'm putting on my asbestos suit, but anti-illegal Republicans like Pete Wilson turned California blue and the same will happen everywhere in America if we don't agree with Bush on this one.
I see in Hispanics nothing more or less than the repopulation of America by the Indians.
In them, I see my co-religionists, and the steady, certain flood that will make the current abortion laws unsustainable in America. The only Latin American countries that allow abortion are Cuba and Puerto Rico.
