My husband had to fly there this morning. He'll be there for 3 days. He'd rather go anywhere but Detroit. No offense, I'm sure there are parts of the city he hasn't seen which are nice, but what he has seen, he doesn't care for.

No there are not any places left that are nice. My grandparents lived in one of the last remaining good neighborhoods. Last I heard, their home had been turned into a brothel.
My grandparents passed away 20 years ago and the rest of our family moved out years ago because of the lack of property value and the high taxes.
He should come to West Michigan. It is really nice here. And more conservative, too.
Although lately it seems that many of the moonbats from Detroit are relocating over here, particularly Muskegon.

YOu might suggest that he head out west on M-14 and wander around Main St., Liberty St., and State St. in downtown Ann Arbor.
That's a mostly liberal town too, but much prettier. Great bookstores (the Mother Ship for Borders is there), fantastic restaurants and fun shopping.
