I live in one of it's suburbs. I have no choice but to notice.

I'm in Florida and it's hard to believe it could be as bad as they say. Is it really this bad?

Unfortunately, yes it really is. There are a few small pockets of areas that you can go to (Greektown, the small stretch on Woodward that includes the Fox Theater, [astoundingly beautiful building by the way], Ford Field, Comerica Park, etc.) but when I go to those areas I go absolutely no further in any direction. It's a God awful shame, too, because Detroit has some of the most amazingly breathtaking architecture you will see anywhere. However, what's left of it that is not now abandoned or crumbling is in areas that are unsafe to traverse.
