Why would a high ranking al-Qaeda leader be wearing a suicide pack?

Several of them have, including one of Zarqawi closest allies in Fallujah when we went in so that he wouldn't be taken alive by the enemy, and if he was almost captured he could take some of the enemy with him.

A high ranking al-Qaeda leader would only be carrying a suicide pack, if ...

- there were no more gullible would-be suiciders left;
- no cell member protection left for him; or
- he was crazy to start with.

Sounds like all three to me.

My question; correctomundo, there haven't been too many upper echelon/commanders that embrace the suicide vest as daily wear. Warrior/warzone license?
