My grandfather served as an advisor in Korea before the Korean War. He led the South Korean forces during the Yuso-Sunchon Revolt, which is often considered the first battle of the Korean War. During the fight, my grandfather and a lieutenant were wounded and another captain was killed, yet the Pentagon refused to give them Purple Hearts, stating that there weren't any Americans infovled in combat on the Korean Peninsula.

I have the after-action report for this battle and am currently working on a magazine article about the battle. I'll let you know if I ever get it published.

It sounds pretty interesting. I'd be happy to read it.
