A few centuries ago in Europe and the Middle East, habitats for pigeons were built. Conical-shaped towers rose several stories. As the birds scoured the countryside of insects, they tended to be rather messy housekeepers.
So, once a year, villagers would come and clean up the mess, spreading it on their fields for fertilizer.
This, and windmills for grinding grain, are my concepts of the best things that civization has come up with regarding living as Nature's partner, instead of foe.
Excellent concept. Wouldn't work with geese, though. Too big, too aggressive.
