The dwarves and I have not been idle. Getting the subterranean sections set for space has been a bit of a chore. What started with the dungeons went rather far afield. I tried making maps, but no two mapping efforts seem to agree with each other now. Even ultra-long wave density scans taken as little as a few hours apart show almost completely different internal structures. Not a different distribution of mass, but the pathways themselves seem to go where they want instead of where they were supposedly put.

It's why I put in the T-ray scanners for internal monitoring. It doesn't work quite right yet... but we are working on it...

The labs were a bit further down. We also needed some place for Herbert to work on the spores that cause Zombies to re-animate.

The upper areas are easy. Just punch up a Castle map on any available terminal. It'll tell you right where you are and how to get where you want to go. Above ground down to the original Dungeon levels only though. Anything deeper is kind of a "Subterra Incognito" at this point.

Well, with the 'holidays' coming, the zombies were getting into the spirit of things and decorating.

I really don't want to know what they were doing with the corpse of 'fox news fan'.

I'll get some of them cleaning up the areas likely to have visitors.

Stir-fried Tofu With Mushrooms and Oyster sauce

The indescribable flavor of umami comes through quite strongly when dried mushrooms are used.
INGREDIENTS:

* 3/4 pound firm tofu
* 1 cup dried black or shiitake mushrooms, or fresh mushrooms
* 1 cup canned bamboo shoots
* 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
* 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
* 1 teaspoon sugar
* 1 1/2 tablespoons Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
* 2 tablespoons oil

PREPARATION:
Remove the tofu from the package and drain. Cut the tofu lengthwise through the middle, so that you have two equal pieces about 1-inch thick. Cut into large cubes.
If using dried black or shiitake mushrooms, reconstitute by soaking in warm water for 20 minutes or until they have softened.
Squeeze to remove excess liquid and thinly slice. If using fresh mushrooms, wipe with a damp cloth and slice.
Rinse the bamboo shoots in warm running water and drain. In a small bowl, mix together the dark soy, oyster sauce, sugar, and sherry and set aside.
Heat the wok. When the wok is ready, add the oil. Add the bamboo shoots and mushrooms and stir until they are heated through.
Add the tofu and the dark soy/oyster sauce/sugar/sherry mixture. Stir-fry until the ingredients are heated through. Serve hot.
Then run to the bathroom.

Beauty.
"No, you're not," answered Quasimodo and Tom Thumb.
"I am the smallest person in the world," shouted Tom Thumb.
"No, you're not," said Sleeping Beauty and Quasimodo."
"I am the ugliest person in the world," announced Quasimodo.
"No, you aren't," replied Tom Thumb and Sleeping Beauty. Well, they
decided that if the three were to get along, they needed a mediator,
and
decided that Merlin, clearly the smartest person in the world, would
be
ideal. Merlin agreed and summoned them all to his palace, where he
announced he would meet with them one at a time. Sleeping Beauty went
in
first and not a minute later came out beaming.
"I am the most beautiful person in the world. Merlin says so."
In went Tom Thumb and out he came as quickly as had Sleeping Beauty.
"I am the smallest person in the world. Merlin agrees."
In goes Quasimodo and he stays a half hour, an hour, an hour and a
half.
Finally, he emerges distraught, muttering, "Who the hell is Sheila Copps?
