I missed the Smackoff, and I haven't been able to catch the Jungle while here. I gather it must have been bad. Maybe they removed the pay phone from the 7-11?
About Silk: right after the Sacramento Tour Stop in 1999 or 2000, Trapper called the Jungle and told Jim he had been in a pile-up on I-5 on his way to Sac-town, and that was why he had missed the Tour Stop. (This was a few months after the Tampa Bay Tour Stop, when he had regaled the show with tales of him and Silk picking up some stripper or 'ho and taking her back to their hotel.)
Anyway, Trapper sounded pretty rough on that phone call, so I emailed Jim something to the effect of:
"Dear Jim, Trapper sounded pretty rough in that call. We know he says he had a traffic accident, but some of us were wondering if he isn't really just recovering from something he picked up from the ho....errrr, unemployed model he and Silk double-teamed in Tampa. Concerned Clones demand an answer!"
Imagine my excitement when Jim reads my email, not even 3 minutes after I clicked "send"

Cablinasian is sick. Let's hope he doesn't go "JT" and start his own show, though.

Jungle Alert:
Mickelson leads Elkington by a shot at delayed PGA
SPRINGFIELD, N.J. (AP) -- Thousands of fans stood shoulder-to-shoulder as they shuffled toward the exit at Baltusrol late Sunday afternoon after a final round that delivered high drama in the PGA Championship.
They saw Phil Mickelson soar and stumble, then regain his magic with a shot out of rough so deep he could barely see the ball. They watched Tiger Woods salvage an unlikely par by chipping in and finish with two birdies to get under par for the first time, keeping alive slim hopes of a third major to go with his Masters and British Open titles.
They got everything but a winner.
Storms that everyone saw coming halted the final round with Mickelson clinging to a one-shot lead over Steve Elkington and Thomas Bjorn, forcing the first Monday finish at the PGA Championship in nearly 20 years.

"Mate, do I see cat?" - One of the best lines ever uttered on Jim Rome's show.

heh...
I remember a couple months ago when Elk was on the show and was talking about his wife...
he started out with (and he was talking about talking with his wife here)
Elk: "Well ya know mate..."
Romey: "Wait. You call your wife 'mate'?"
Elk: "Well yeah naturally"
Romey: "Classic"

I think that was the same show where he was talking about shooting the deer with an arrow out his front door. " 'ad it cleaned and on the barbie inside 30 minutes mate."
Let's keep a good thought for Elk, he's currently tied for the lead at -3.

Great, I'll enjoy the podcast then.
Maybe this should become the Clone thread, similar to the Undead Thread!

This is a joke, right?
I think it's far more likely that it's a parody of Cindy Sheehan than it is really Cindy Sheehan

Janine Turner is a Republican? Could this explain why she has to do eye-drop commercials?

Now there's an idea! After all, there's already a Rush Live thread, and a Tony Snow Live thread, and a Drudge...y'know. We could do a lot worse than have a Romey Live thread. But it has to wait till I am back in the States...hopefully next week.

Rome lineup for Tuesday 8/16 in The Jungle
Trent Dilfer - Cleveland Browns QB
Carson Palmer - Bengals QB
Mike Tice - Vikings Head Coach. GO VIKES GO!
What are the odds the first question to Tice will be about a certain WR no longer with the team?

Could it be a certain one that's now part of the Raidahs?
