Mexico said the declarations "don't jibe with the spirit of cooperation and understanding" and ordered its consul in Albuquerque to meet with New Mexico officials "to promote appropriate actions by the officials of both countries."

The thing is that it won't. The hispanics I know are livid about lax border security, and they might just vote for Richardson if it looks like he's at least acknowledging that there's a problem (and meeting with the Minutemen rather than calling them "vigilantes). Meanwhile, the "La Raza" types won't be able to resist voting for an hispanic candidate just because he's hispanic. For me, the cons of voting for Richardson very much outweigh the pros, though. He's still a liberal that shills for the Clintons.
