'Able Danger' to Roost for 9/11 Commission?
Fox News (where else?) ^ | 8/12/05 | John Gibson

Posted on 08/13/2005 6:06:35 AM PDT by SueRae

I'm like a lot of my e-mailers: I think this business about the "Able Danger" (search) unit at the Pentagon — the people who had their eye on Mohammad Atta (search) way before 9/11 — is now going to come home to roost with the 9/11 commission itself.

The reason is simple. One of the 9/11 commissioners should have been in the witness chair during the entire hearings.

She was Jamie Gorelick (search), who was in the Justice Department making up the rules before 9/11.

She was the one who ruled that the spies and military analysts couldn't tell the FBI things about people like Atta they had found information on.

This is the so-called wall — civil liberties, you know — that protected you from the evil old feds investigating you here at home in the land of the free and home of the brave. And under this thinking, a guy like Atta could be in the crosshairs of the spooks but wander around free as a bird because the spooks had been told they couldn't tell the feds charged with tracking terrorists that they had one on the radar.

This is not to say 9/11 is Jamie Gorelick's fault.

It was Mohammad Atta's fault. Same as it was the terrorist's fault that Cindy Sheehan's (search) son was killed in Iraq — not George Bush's fault.

However, the fact is that Jamie Gorelick should have been testifying before the commission about what she did and why she did it rather than sitting in judgment of what other people did.

And another thing makes me wonder what Sandy Berger (search) was stuffing in his socks when he pirated documents out of the National Archives that might have been papers the 9/11 commission was interested in seeing.

"...what Sandy Berger was stuffing in his socks..."

Will we ever know what he was stuffing in his socks. I would think he would have to tell to get a reduced sentence. But he would probably lie anyway.

It is amazing that there was no significant coverage of this Berger stuffing episode. It is all very surreal.

This is not to say 9/11 is Jamie Gorelick's

... or BJ's fault, however they went out over and beyond their duty to allow it to happen and then tried to transfer the blame.

I think it's worth noting that the Gorelick memo came out less than 3 weeks after the Oklahoma City bombing.

When the one news report was done about Sandy Berger's recent conviction, the article made a big point about how he only stole copies and the National Archives had the originals.

What they *didn't* say in that one article, published on the back pages somewhere between a classified ad and the sports page, was that the copies he had stolen and destroyed contained *hand written notations* in the margins. Those notations were not on the original copies. We don't know who wrote them (Clinton?) or what they said "Able Danger needs to be shut down and closed up to maintain our agreement with OBL".

We will never know.

But thats OK, Sandy Berger can't hold a top secret clearance any more... at least not for two years.

No wonder I didn't notice it at the time.

I was getting married.

Why was this Gorelick woman even ON the commission? Were there other actual actors in the gov't who sat in judgement on themselves as commissioners, or is she the only one? And, if she IS the only one, how did she come to be there, and why? And is she is NOT the only one, who are the others, and what were ANY of them doing there?

When Clinton introduced the don't ask/don't tell policy, we thought he was talking about gays in the military, when in fact he was talking about looking for terrorists.

Did you ever read the FINAL REPORT from the Oklahoma City Bombing investigation commitee? It's no wonder there's so many damn unanswered questions, now knowing when her wall was erected! The way that building collapsed resembled detonations charges at specific structural points rather than a truck-bomb blowing a hole and taking out a few columns, which COULD reslut in collapse. Some of the column breaks photographed on that day show a lot of clean breaks at the steel reinforcing with the concrete appearing to be well intact.
It's almost as if detonations broke the structure at the right places and the truck-bomb pushed it over like bowling pins.
If the Clinton admin get's nailed, I hope they get nailed for OKC, 9-11, and China-gate. Wouldn't that be a Grand Slam? Well, now...time for me to stop dreaming.

Why was this Gorelick woman even ON the commission?

She was there to make sure they did not stray from their "agenda".

Their "agenda" was to make sure the deeds of der Schleikmaster and his gang were not exposed.

Were it not for FR, the internet and talk radio she would have succeeded.

Are you a demolitions expert or a structural engineer? How do you know what a truck bomb's effects look like?

When there are real revelations of government idiocy and misconduct, going off the edge into moonbattery just helps them discredit their critics and continue their wrongdoing.

When it's about people who aren't even green card holders, let alone citizens, I fail to see any reason for such niceties.

John Gibson "gets it" very often. I think he is one of the most underestimated talking heads in the media.

The most mindboggling excuse that the left continues to give about the report on Atta and his cohorts......that the information was incredible.

Even after it's is KNOWN that these men flew the planes that murdered three thousand Americans, they still insist the report was incredible?????????????????????????

Okay!

"Are you a demolitions expert or a structural engineer? How do you know what a truck bomb's effects look like? "

ANFO is slow. It pushes things, which is why it's used to move dirt and rock. Plastics are used (I've never used them) to cut structural members in demolition and the only ones I've seen come in triangular sections sheathed in copper. They are directional and shear the metal like a knife.

I've only used ANFO, binary and regular dynamite (Dupont 90%) myself and it wouldn't shear a structural member like that.
