Was Patty Hearst a victim or was she also guilty of militant crimes?
Both. She formed some kind of sick bond with her kidnappers, much like in the Elizabeth Smart case, the only difference being Elizabeth Smart didn't engage in any criminal activity that I am aware of at the behest of her captor.
