I liked this:
Rightwing talk show host Phil Hendrie goes even lower, writing an article amazingly entitled "Anti-War Mom: Another Ignorant Cow," Hendrie called Sheehan a "self-righteous ignoramus," and then went into full mockery mode: "A mother grieving her loss. The inhumanity of war. Oh, the wickedness of it all."
I've seen callousness before, but this piece may top them all. And catch Hendrie's defense of the Iraq War: "This war was unavoidable, brought on by an historic clash of culture and ideal, powered by the American people themselves, rising to meet the future, pissing off the rag heads." Rag heads?
I don't know of Phil Hendrie, never heard him and wouldn't know his voice.
But Rush had a guest host a week or two ago (I think it was Mark Belling but I'm not at all positive, I just caught a small part). He said something that I thought was profound about groups like ANSWER that say "war is never the answer." He said sometimes war is the answer. If war were never the answer, we'd still be British subjects. If war were never the answer, the United States of America would now be two separate countries, one based on slavery and one not. If war were never the answer, Hitler would have conquered much if not all of the world. If war were never the answer, Saddam would still be waging his murderous and bloody regime. Nobody likes war, but unfortunately sometimes war is the answer.
After being very young during Vietnam I used to think war was the worst thing in the world. But after 9/11 I now know there is something even worse-- a lot worse. And that is having nothing dear to you that you will protect and defend. Having nothing that stirs your soul with pride that will make you stand up and fight anyone who threatens it.
I'm glad to know in my heart that there's something I hold dear enough for that. And I thank God we have people who are more than willing to serve in our military to protect and defend the rest of us. Cindy Sheehan is not glad about that and does not hold either them or the ideals upon which this country was founded, anywhere near dearly enough. Between the lines --but just barely between-- she's saying we don't deserve to be protected and defended. So what she's saying and doing is about ME too. And I take her treason very personally.
The Left vs. Facism (Liberal Radio Host Phil Hendrie Supports Bush, WoT)
Whatever he is, he's a braying loudmouth and doesn't bring much substance to the table of talk radio. And for those who hear "conservative views" coming from his mouth, he also is the voice of his guests (including irate women). Who is the real Phil Hendrie? Is it satire? Is it a meanspirited slur on conservatives? Who knows? I don't care to even listen.

Anti-War Mom: Another Ignorant Cow

Casey Sheehan was a re-enlistee with the Army's 1st Cavalry. He knew he was going to fight. He understood that. He embraced it. He fought like a soldier. And like a soldier he died, killed in April of 2004, in Sadr City, Iraq.
Casey's mom, Cindy, doesn't quite get it. She is a mother who has lost her son to a war. Convinced she knows more about the costs of war than other parents who've suffered similar loss, she has parked herself outside President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. Full of judgment and hate, calling him "selected," not elected, blaming him personally for the death of her son, this clueless woman is going to sit there until the President comes out. She's going to set him straight.
Cindy Sheehan is another bereaved parent that the anti-Iraq War movement has run its game on. Manipulating her in her sadness and anger, they've created a self-righteous ignoramus. Casey Sheehan was cut down by foreign insurgents, the same Saudi-Iranian-Syrian animals that carved up Nick Berg. But to Cindy, the man who killed her son is George Bush. Cindy believes Bush lied about our reasons for going to war and thus led her son to his death through outright deceit.
The "Bush Lied" theory has been debated and discredited but Anti-War Mom hasn't noticed. Cindy Sheehan isn't outside the Bush ranch as a truth-seeker. She's there for her public-relations potency. "I want people to know the real costs of war," she says. A mother grieving her loss. The inhumanity of war. Oh, the wickedness of it all. It's the anti-Iraq War Propaganda Machine working the sewer again...
