They're saying it is going to be the worst day of summer. We're already over 90º, the air is bad and humidity worse. Time to haul out the old exploding thermometer!

Yes, it's awful, last time I looked 97% humidity. I've spent more time in the house lately than ever.
Did you see that hurricane? makes me nervous.
I have to show you a picture I took at the beach while watching surfers. I'll be right back.

MR. CUSTER
Recorded by: "Larry Verne"
(peak Billboard position #1 in 1960)
Words and Music by Fred Darian, Al DeLory, Joe Van Winkle
(Indian drums throughout song)
(Indian war whoops)
That famous day in history the men of the 7th Cavalry went riding on
And from the rear a voice was heard
A brave young man with a trembling word rang loud and clear...
What am I doin' here??
Please Mr. Custer, I don't wanna go
Hey, Mr. Custer, please don't make me go
I had a dream last night about the comin' fight
Somebody yelled "attack!"
And there I stood with a arrow in my back.
Please Mr. Custer, I don't wanna go (forward Ho!!)--aaww
SPOKEN: Look at them bushes out there
They're moving and there's a injun behind every one
Hey, Mr. Custer-you mind if I be excused the rest of the afternoon?
HEY CHARLIE, DUCK YER HEAD!!
(sound of arrow whizzing by)
Hmm, you're a little bit late on that one, Charlie
Hooh, I bet that smarts!
(They were sure of victory, the men of the 7th Cavalry, as they rode on)
(But then from the rear a voice was heard)
(That same brave voice with the trembling word rang loud and clear)
What am I doin' here??
Please Mr. Custer, I don't wanna go
Listen, Mr. Custer, please don't make me go
There's a redskin a'waitin' out there, just fixin to take my hair
A coward I've been called cuz I don't wanna wind up dead or bald
Please Mr. Custer, I don't wanna go (forward HO)--aaww
SPOKEN: I wonder what the injun word for friend is
Let's see-friend-- kemo sabe, that's it
KEMO SABE!, HEY OUT THERE-KEMO SABE!
(sound of arrow whizzing by)
Nope, that itn't it
Look at them durned injuns
They're runnin' around like a bunch of wild Indians-heh, heh, heh
Nah, this ain't no time for jokin'

((HUGS))Good morning, Lauren, Godblessusa.
Music bumps for 684 and 688.
We had to unplug the computer this morning due to thunder and lightning. Picked up three-quarters of an inch.
Been doing a little bit of bloging this morning. Posted some comments on another thread regardin the disgraceful performance in Texas being put on by that military mom.
You can read that commentary by clicking on my screename and then "In Forum".

"Hey Drumbo did you play drums with Captain Beefheart?"
Hi Koko -
No. But I play him on the Internet ... lol. The Captain's "Drumbo" was a fellow named John French - (who BTW has written an excellent book about his days with The Magic Band).
I'm Jimmy Fox - and
not the leader/drummer of The James Gang with the same name. Those are the two questions I get asked the most concerning who I am.
I'm "Drumbo Thunder" ... a name I adopted in 1976 when attached to the US Navy Steel Band. All of the members had "stage names" ... "Buddha" Baker, "Tank" White, Lyle "Zute Zacowitz" Sacry, Glenn "Bugsy" Edwards. Cal "Pan Man" Stewart ...etc. While attending the Armed Forces School of Music in Little Creek, VA, my nickname had been "Jay Bee" (derived from my initials) given me by my drum instructor, Master Chief Roland "Gill" Gilbert - but, when I arrived in New Orleans in November of 1975 to take my place as featured soloist with The US Navy Steel Band for their 1976 Bi-Centennial tour - they had me drop the "Jay Bee" moniker because of a member named John "J.P." McKinney. First Class "Duke" Haley didn't like the resemblance.
For the first few weeks they played "name the newb" - I was called "Slim", then "Stix" and eventually "Drumski" ... all of which I hated. I finally borrowed "Drumbo" and added Thunder - which stuck throughout my career as a professional drummer. By the time I adopted it as my Internet handle in the early 90s, John "Drumbo" French had retired, become a recluse, and wasn't using it anymore.
There are over 300 "Drumbos" on AOL alone, and many others at various drummer's forums on the Web, but so far, I seem to be the only Internet Thunder Klown.

Our guys are saying they think Irene is going to make a hard right and head back out to sea before it gets us. I tend to agree because, if there was the slightest chance she was going to hit, meteorologists would be all over with hype galore!

Good morning E.G.C. Glad you're getting some rain! I think your storms will head this way tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads up on your comments, I will go read!

This was a funny image you posted a while back.

Daughter and I go to beach. We are watching surfers. I was taking pictures. Here's two shots same day.
Cool surfer
Next shot, I didn't see till I got home.

Optical illusion of a surfer. I hope. The Hurricane is going to give the surfers great waves. Looks like it will go out to sea. Whew!
