I am opposed to abortions in the cases of rape or incest. However, since, that is a minuscule percentage of abortions, I would vote in a heartbeat for a law limiting abortion to rape, incest or the life of the mother. I would also vote for a candidate who supported such a policy.
If you denigrate or trash anyone who does not hold an absolutist stand on the issue of abortion, you marginalize yourself, and limit the advances we CAN make in limiting abortion. A large majority of Americans would support a policy such as stated by Goldwater. Unfortunately, only a minority would support a policy limiting abortion to only the life of the mother. You and I may not agree, but that is reality.
See there you go making assumptions CA. That is also quite immature. I never said I was an absolutist on abortion as I see the necessity of aborting a pregnancy if the life of the mother is in jeopardy. That is the only case in which I see abortion as necessary. Aborting a pregnancy because of rape or incest is IMO unjust.
In many cases where the life of the mother is in jeopardy, the life of the fetus has already terminated or there is a great possibility of that happening. I am not an absolutist on abortion as you can very well see. I am pro-life, and that means the life of the mother as well as the child. A mother who is pregnant from rape or incest is in no jeopardy to her life from the fetus. Therefore the fetus is at no fault to be aborted.
