You've done quite a bit of research there, young'un. I'll have to tell you, the rabid, irrational, downright loony ravings of this woman (and the quality of her supporters) frightens me. Who knows what kinds of things they will do to stay in the limelight of the adoring media? (If anyone DOES get hit on those dark rural roads in Crawford, I would look closely at the bumpers of the Code Pinkos and their ilk before pointing fingers at the Secret Service.)
"This country is not worth dying for. Cathy Sheehan.
THIS IS THE PROBLEM. MANY have willingly died for this country, and HER SON was a PATRIOT. She doesn't see it. She SEES ONLY HER GRIEF. I'm guessing she doesn't have any religous faith to give her a bigger life view. Her son UNDERSTOOD! (he volunteered to be a Chaplains assistant).
She has yet to learn unselfishness.
Amazing how such a great and honorable kid could come from such a stupid mother. Her conduct is disgraceful to his memory. Knock it off, Cindy. Quit ruining the Sheehan name.
Every soldier may know this, but its simply not true. Chaplain's Assistant is a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), and a non-combat one to boot. They are armed, as are all soldiers except conscientious objector medics, and chaplains - although I've known many who have abandoned that practice after some experience of combat.
BTW, Cindy Sheehan has contended at times that her son was killed by "friendly fire."
Since the insurgents, the side she is ultimately helping with her protest, are the ones that killed Casey, from her point of view, indeed he was killed by "friendly fire."
She was on the Olberman Show last night relishing the media momentum.
***
I found it funny that she would not appear on the O'Reilly Factor. Her handlers were probably afraid he'd grill her too much. Olberman was probably a more friendly environment for her and her supporters.
You've got that right. Here is a flyer that was passed out at one of her appearances--in fact, the one featured at the top of this thread:
Spot on, Dave. Cindy is so wrapped up in the "look at me, I'm grieving" mantra that Casey's service and sacrifice is lost in the prattle.
Casey Austin Sheehan
Thank you for your sacrifice for this great country
and for the cause of Freedom.
A grateful nation salutes you.
Also, her husband (soon to be ex-husband, currently seperated, is refusing to comment, but members of his family, are also opposed to her, in fact, she is the only Sheehan saying this garbage, I guess her son took after everyone else in the family but her).
By the way, welcome to free republic newbie.
"Cindy, how did you feel when your son ignored you and re-enlisted of his own free will?"
According to the DUmmies, we are all children incapable of making our own decision and incapable of taking care of ourselves. That is what Mother State is for.
Sorry if I snapped at you, my bad, I misread what you were saying.
Thank God some DO believe this country is worth dying for, Cindy, 'cause if it was left up to people like you, we'd have all perished long ago.
I wonder how she'd like living under Sharia law.
I've heard people say that this woman deserves sympathy and understanding because of her grief and loss.
I don't think so
I believe she deserves the same utter COMTEMPT that she is showing for her dead son.
God Bless and Keep Casey Sheehan in his arms and in his loving embrace.
Cindy has God's love as well I am sure, but from me, a lowly Marine, she has nothing but my complete contempt and disgust.
Yep - ship her to Afghanistan, put a burka on her and tell her to STHU.
Olberman is a bitter leftist that bashes Bush daily. It isn't surprising she went on that show.

[Excerpts]
My son, Casey Austin Sheehan, was born on May 29, 1979. After a long labor, he was born on Memorial Day. I would look into his eyes and see a depth of wisdom there from the time he was born. He was born with an "old soul." As a proud mom, I knew, and I would tell everyone who would listen to me, that he was going to be a great man. I was right. I just didn't realize how great he was going to be ... or how much his moment of greatness was going to hurt me.
Casey joined the Army in May, 2000. His recruiter told him that he would be able to finish college, be a Chaplain's Assistant, receive a $20,000 signing bonus, and most insidiously and heartbreakingly, that he would never see combat. Casey scored so high on the ASVAB (military competency test) that he would only be in a support role and he would never be in a battle. Well, every promise that Casey's recruiter made to him, he broke. The only promise that I care about, though, is the one where Casey would never see battle.
Casey's division, the First Cavalry Division, out of Ft. Hood, was sent to Iraq in March, 2004. He called home once from Kuwait on March 14th. He said he was hot, they had been busy getting ready to convoy to Baghdad, and he was on his way to Mass (naturally). His company, Charlie Battery, convoyed peacefully to Baghdad and reached their post F.O.B. War Eagle in Sadr City on March 19th. On April 4th, Palm Sunday, we got the word that Casey had been killed in an ambush. The first chance he got, my brave, wonderful, faithful, sweet, gentle and kind boy volunteered for a rescue mission as a Combat Life Saver. He was a Humvee mechanic who never should have gone on a mission like that. Casey and 20 of his buddies were sent into a raging insurgent uprising to rescue wounded soldiers. Only 13 of them returned. Casey was riding in the back of a trailer with no protection when they were ambushed. He was killed within minutes of the ambush. He was able to return fire and buy some time for his unit. His actions that day saved lives. Casey is a hero who belongs to history now, but I wish he were a living breathing coward. So I could still talk to him, e-mail him, send him care packages, Christmas Presents, hug him and never let go when he got back from War.
THe left's agenda is so anti-American and transparent.
Yet, they always use the mantra, "We support the troops" someone should point out that the "troops" have an American flag on their shoulders not a dish towel on their heads.
