"we need to use all technologies including satellites and unmanned aircraft along our borders... we will put up a virtual wall on our borders with technology," Don't forget the tried and true - land mines, coiled razor wire and gun towers.

Anyone know if it's "news" that Tancredo is seriously considering a 2008 run? He said as much on KFI tonight when interviewed after the controversial Carlsbad (San Diego County) California illegal immigration forum.
I hope by 2008 we're well on the way to getting a handle on this problem. I don't know if we can afford to wait another 2.5 yrs.

[Delay] sanctions against employers who hire illegals didn't work
Partially true. In Calif. some years ago, in Wilson's term as Governor, there was a crack-down on companies hiring illegals. Many companies put in policies regarding proof of citizenship, requiring three forms of identification, including birth certificates. Any temporary employees, even current ones, were forced to do the same. Of course, most of those let go or not hired because of this just went out and joined the underground economy which is huge in Calif.

Based on FReeper bayourod's convoluted definition of what an "Anti" is, DeLay is definitely an Anti.

Real immigration reform starts with employer sanctions not platitudes like "we must secure our borders". Congress should pass a law stating that no business can legally hire a person before they get a "green light" from the feds that their name and SS# match up. After they get the "green light" from the feds the employer must sign a legally binding form stating they had fully complied with the federal employment verification system. If the employer hires someone without going though the "EVS" they will have committed a federal felony punishable by 1 million dollar fine and a mandatory 1 year in prison per illegal hire.

guest worker program
Guests are folks who come over for dinner, eat & go home. Guest workers come over and stay forever. We've had a few notable guest "workers" in the past. Some of them disappeared on 9-11. Their remains are scattered over hallowed ground. Never forget what they did.

This might be a news flash for DeLay but he and his fellow Congressmen have been "rewarding criminality" for many years by showering lawbreakers with numerous welfare style benefits, very little welfare fraud oversight, total disregard for many employers breaking federal immigration and tax laws, etc. This is just more empty political rhetoric for a problem that has spiraled out of control.
