WARSAW, Poland - Poland's president appealed Thursday to Russian President Vladimir Putin to track down the men who attacked two Polish diplomats and a journalist in Moscow in recent days, saying the violence was "leading to a harmful escalation of hostility."

President Aleksander Kwasniewski's appeal came in a written statement released to the Polish media late Thursday. Earlier in the day, a Polish journalist for the leading Rzeczpospolita newspaper was beaten in Moscow, while two diplomats with the Polish Embassy in Moscow were attacked in separate incidents earlier in the week.

"These dangerous incidents in past days are creating tensions in Polish-Russian relations, Kwasniewski said.

He asked Putin and Russian authorities to take "resolute action toward tracking down and punishing the organizers and the perpetrators of the attacks and to provide security for Poles working and residing on Russian territory."

The incidents follow the July 31 mugging of three sons of Russian diplomats in a Warsaw park, during which the boys' cell phones were stolen.

Putin's government demanded an apology. The Polish Foreign Ministry expressed "deep regret," but said it owed no apology for what it said was a criminal act.

The incidents also come amid rising tensions between Poland and Belarus, whose autocratic President Alexander Lukashenko enjoys Putin's backing.

Poland has been pressing for democratic change in neighboring Belarus, angering Lukashenko's government. The former Soviet republic's minority Polish community has also complained of being harassed in a government crackdown.

In the land of skinheads, isn't it amazing that this was not perpetrated by skinheads.

The attack last week by "Polish" skinheads, which had the precision of swat team was well timed.

Putin and Lukashenko do not even like each other. Furthermore, while Lukashenko is clearly a communist and dictator, Putin is a Christian and captailist. Russia is far from being a communist state.

You're absolutely right, Poland and your boys in Moldova spring right to mind. How is it to know that you actively allowed the elections (if one can even call it that) of the Communist Party of MOLDOVA over the Conservative Party of MOLDOVA? Oh that's right, the Communists got on bended knee to their friends and birds of a feather in Poland and the EU.

Oh no our little EU propagandist. I condemned all communists. Your little problem is that you just labeled all your enemies communist, regardless of the reality. When challeged to define communist and show how it applied, in this case to Putin, you ran with your tail so far between your legs it was getting caught in your mouth.

You are hypocrite cause you are claiming that Kwasniewski is an communist but Putin, KGB agent, is not. The real conservatives have no problem to condemn both of those pigs. Your truth color is red but in European sense.

The real conservatives judge by a man's actions instead of sticking to paid for rhetoric like you do. Anyone with half a brain who looks at Putin's actions will know he's not a communist. Autocratic, yes, nationalistic, yes, capitalistic, yes, communist? Only to an EU troll spreading lies.
