Not really. If the desired goal is strict constructionism or a Scalia-type, I'm not sure this case tells us anything other than that Roberts is a careful lawyer. Given that Reagan was using Meese as his A.G., Roberts' caution wasn't exactly a bad thing, IMO.
Honorary citizenship is a pretty dicey basis for pursuing human rights violations no matter how we felt about the Soviets.
