I cannot forget how despicable the 9/11 hearings were: the show trial of Condi Rice conducted by Ben Veniste and the useful idiots who would applaud every time he grilled her. Richard Clarke grandstanding to the MSM and the audience, which seemed like it was the same audience for the Bill Maher show. Chris Matthews and CNN's portrayal of the 'Jersey Girls' (the liberal template for Cindy Sheehan was mastered here) as representative of all 9/11 families. What a joke that the big bad Clinton admin was tough on terror.

"What a joke that the big bad Clinton admin was tough on terror."

Exactly. And all the former Clintonistas had their line down - oh yes sir, we were tough on terrorism, we were really diligent in dealing with those terrorists. Which explains why Al Qaeda was able to plan and carry out the 9/11 attacks. I wonder how Richard Clarke feels, knowing that the Sandy Berger he praised in hearings was caught stealing Top Secret documents in which Clarke advocated killing bin Laden - and that Berger opposed it. Perhaps Clarke is so emotionally dead from his many years in Washington that he doesn't really care.

And how about Kean and Hamilton, trying to conduct the hearing in a gentlemanly manner? That only works with gentlemen. When you have people like Ben-Veniste and Gorelick on the committee, you have to expect partisan axe jobs. Ben-Veniste attempt to trash Condoleeza Rice was a low point in his career.
