I guess I assume the people who received the letter know who they are dealing with and have spoken to them/verified identities. Hope this is the case.

An email address is a pretty good guarantee to the recipient!!! As you can tell by the greeting...Melanie knew where to send her message and they had been in contact more than once. Of course, Melanie wouldn't include that in sending out the message...
