The questions also who has the power to make that decision. Ultimately, its a question for society. That means a question of public policy and law. I supported the bill before my legislature in Florida that would have required more explicit notification in order to stop life support. The republican dominated legislature didnt support it. I believe that was due to their perception that the population doesnt support keeping people alive for decades in that condition without hope of recovery. I suspect Terri probably thought differently when she was alive, and I also suspect that she would have changed her mind if she sat and watched her crimped brainless body for a decade, but I dont know any of that with certainty.
All I know is that the people and the state legislature refused to change the laws in favor of overriding her husbands or the court's authority. I dont support going around that, and perhaps compromising it, in order to accommodate the moral agenda of a minority. I suspect that Terry got screwed over by her husband, and then what was left of her body got jerked around by people claiming to be acting on her behalf. I wouldnt wish any of that on my worst enemy.
