I think they use "neo-con" because they think it will remind people of the word "neo-nazi," and is their subtle way of trying to equate conservatives with nazis.
Like those idiot Rolling Stones, I doubt any of them really know what the term means (which is understandable, since it really doesn't mean ANYTHING)...
