Isolationism has been superseded by weapons of mass destruction. The oceans don't provide the protection they once did. And it will take just one deranged jihadist with the right weapon in his hand to kill hundreds of thousands or millions. Sitting on our arses and hoping for the best is not a working strategy today. We have to kill them before they get to us.
