First the Indian tribes then the loosers of the civil war. If the CSA battle flag was offensive it won't be long until they are offended by old southern state nicknames like Tarheels, Gamecocks, Bulldogs, etc.

Isn't that fascism?

No. Because we don't call it fascism.

Whatever anyone thinks of the use of Indian names for athletic team nicknames, I've always been mystified by the rabblerousers who claim the teams that use Indian nicknames wish to "slur" Indians. How they arrived at that conclusion I'll never understand. Then they claim that no one uses the names of Jews or Aframs or Greeks for names. Maybe not, but so what if they did? Norwegians (especially in my area), Irish, Scotsmen, Dutchmen, to name a few are all ethnic groups whose names in some form I've seen used for team nicknames. Who cares? Only the eternally insecure and dissatisfied types who need to get a life. Other than causing mischief I mean.

Dump the NCAA. These bureaucrats think sports in the USA couldn't get along without them. The 18 affected schools should begin immediately to establish an alternative association to compete with this overbearing bunch. At the very least, they should drag the NCAA into court in individual cases that would prove extremely costly to the NCAA.

The NCAA dipsh*ts have way too much time on their hands if they come up with dumba**ed rules like this one. I really think the lady in the Diversity Department of the NCAA is a fool, and totally ignorant. She needs to go back to Iowa State and get an education on real life and real people instead of the B.S. that comes out of her ugly mouth. The rest of the clowns on that committee of the NCAA should have a can of "whupass" opened on them out behind the woodshed. What buffoons!!

So once again, we have the white man telling the "Native Americans" what they can and can't do.

This will blow up in their faces.

I agree. We should not name institutions of higher learning after Indians. Indians contributed nothing to the building of this nation and certainly nothing to higher education.

The most logical name for a college would be to name it after the city in which it is located or after the name of its founders.
