Jackson Lawyer Ridicules Unhappy Jurors

Michael Jackson's defense attorney ridiculed two jurors who say they regret voting to acquit the singer of child molestation charges, saying it was "time to move on" from the case.

"The bottom line is it makes no difference what they're saying," Thomas Mesereau Jr. told The Associated Press, pointing out the jurors announced their turnaround Monday as they began publicizing book deals.

"Twelve people deliberated and out of that process justice is supposed to result. Now, two months later, these jurors are changing their tunes. They clearly like being on TV," Mesereau said. "I'm very suspicious."

I will admit I initially gave these jurors the benefit of the doubt. They said they were afraid, and I thought they believed harm would come to them or their families if they voted guilty, and I am not sure what I would have done if I was in those shoes.

But boy was I wrong. According to the article, they were afraid the foreman would kick them off the jury. As I admitted in the first paragraph, I am not always the most courageous person in the world. But if the price for doing the right thing was GETTING OUT OF JURY DUTY, I think somehow and I could find the strength and resolve.

Was Mesereau on TV when he said this? Clearly, I'm suspicious of him.

That arrogant, evil shyster making those comments is despicable.

I'd love to be on a jury. Sadly, a conservative engineer with an MBA doesn't fit the profile.

They were winners in a California celebrity trial jury pool.

The jurors were just hanging around for their book deal and a Tee-Vee-Moo-Vee - law and justice had nothing to do with it.

If you are afraid of the other jurists it should be reported to a bailiff immediately.

I partially agrre with this attorney. If the 2 jurists didnt have the courage or the stamina to do what was right its too late for crying now. They should STFU. He should sue them for slander if it keeps up.

They voted to acquit, knowing he was guilty, in order to "get along?"

Cuz that's what it boils down to.

Problem with all jurors on high profile trials, along with prosecutors and defense lawyers are in for the "book deal" and forget it's about justice.

Perhaps if they had the guts to stick with the truth the others would have followed. I like the idea of a 3-5 professional/judge jury panel, each does a summary, judges review and decide. These people would have convicted any other citizen.

According to the article, they were afraid the foreman would kick them off the jury.

On Cosby's new show they said exactly that. They had seen how the Peterson Jury managed to get not one but two people kicked off, and the Foreman threatened these two with exactly that.

That's jury tampering, because he could NOT get them kicked off for standing their ground. Only for failing to deliberate.

The foreman should be arrested, and tried for jury tampering.

I think that's a big problem. Convictions/acquittals make for better copy than hung juries.

It doesn't matter what the jurors say now. Double jeopardy applies here. If they were going to have second thoughts it should have been before a verdict was reached.

< The foreman should be arrested, and tried for jury tampering. >

If what these jurors are saying is true, I agree.

That said, did they not understand that they should have gone to the judge with this? Did they not understand that had the foreman gone to the judge, they would have been interviewed by the judge to state their case.

No one likes to relinquish ten minutes of fame.

It the vote to acquit does not deliver it then naturally you are going to take another shot at the jackpot by claiming you really wanted to prosecute.

Jackpot justice in this country usually sits as a plaintiff, but also sits in the jury pool today. Getting seated on one of these profile cases is like hitting a mega scratch ticket.

We should give southern California back to Mexico, as the loons that inhabit that place are dangerous to the Republic.
