Iran has centrifuges capable of enriching uranium to weapons grade

Iran has manufactured about 4,000 centrifuges capable of enriching uranium to weapons grade, an exiled Iranian dissident who helped uncover nearly two decades of covert nuclear activity in 2002 said Tuesday.

Alireza Jafarzadeh told The Associated Press the centrifuges _ which he said are unknown to the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency _ are ready to be installed at Iran's nuclear facility in Natanz.

The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed Iran had restarted the nuclear activities mothballed under a deal with the European Union's three biggest powers, defying EU warnings that Tehran could be referred to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions.

The meeting was arranged after Iran said it would restart the work, before Monday's confirmation, but diplomats said the board of governors would not likely call for a U.N. referral just yet, giving both Iran and the European Union time for more talks.

U.N. holding urgent Iran nuclear talks

In other words, Iran is building nukes, but the UN thinks they shouldn't actually DO anything to stop them. I am sure the Mullah's of Iran are terrified (/sarcams)

The EU thought it was a mere shakedown ala North Korea when in fact it was a Hudna. Hudna's are so predictable.

I hope the Israeli jets are fueling up right now to bomb the hell out of this place.
Can't understand why the EU is offering incentives to get them to stop this process. The incentive I would offer them is "we will let you live!!!"

Why do you find that unbelievable?

I read back a while ago, that Iraq was buying parts for thousands of centrifuges -- apparently they can make a lot of smaller centrifuges, which are easier to hide.

Yea, this may be true. El Baradei is Muslim and Iran is a Muslim country. A pure muslim will never oppress/fight against another Muslim.

Maybe his (IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei) religion requires him to want this.

Yep. It also requires him to lie to us "infidels".

"Immediately following the defection of General Kamel, Iraq handed to the IAEA more than 500,000 pages of previously hidden documents, 17 tonnes of high strength 'maraging steel' and a stock of carbon fiber sufficient for more than 1000 gas centrifuges. "

"which he said are unknown to the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency."

Excuse me, didnt Iran demand the UN remove its seals and just removed them themselves on the UN inventory?

The real question is, how long does it take to get 4,000 centrifuges, when did they get them, why didn't the UN know, who built them, who paid for them and why, are we at the point in history without knowing this when taxpayers around the globe are paying the UN to know this.

I would assume that they would need industrial size centrifuges to procees nuke material. That number seems unbelievable to me. I wonder how many we have in the US? I bet not that many. Of course if they counted medical centrifuges like your hospital or dentist has, then 4000 might be believable. It just sounds to me like the gross exaggeration that might come from a place like North Korea.

A pure muslim will never oppress/fight against another Muslim.

Explain, then, the Iran/Iraq War, the Gulf War, and the bloody takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban (just the last 3 examples of Muslim-v-Muslim warfare).

Maybe you just forgot the part about that other Muslim attacking infidels.

Here are details of how Iraq acquired centrifuge technology, Iran could have done the same thing. As I said, I don't know why you find it unbelievable -- they have money, they certainly have the determination, and who is going to stop them, the UN, by holding meetings?

OK, I see that they had the carbon fiber sufficient for more than a 1000 gas centrifuges but it doesn't say they had actually made them. It seems like such a large number that it's hard to believe.

ElBaradei was paid off by Saddam and now he is being paid off by the Mullah's of Iran.

I read something, that we actually uncovered some documents in Iraq about ElBaradei playing footsie with Saddam, but we didn't want to use them. But that's why the US didn't want to support ElBaradei being appointed for another term, but unfortunately we wimped out and dropped our objections, presumably after he promised to be fair. And we believed him!

Now a new crisis is at hand, and what is ElBaradei doing, instead of urging severe sanctions, which may actually work? He is "urging maximum restraint", to make sure the UN won't actually do anything that would stop Iran.

IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei said he hopes this is "simply a hiccup not a permanent rupture" and urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint at this point.

El-Baradei should never have been allowed to continue his abetment of Islamic nuclear weapons-making.
