I guess Jim Leach was appointed to the Senate and we didn't hear about it!

Seriously, Jim Leach is having town meetings this week. These meetings are always dominated by Dems who give a distorted view of public opinion. Please consider attending one and be heard and seen.

Jim Leach is a sorry excuse for a rep. and a RINO.

Leach votes with conservatives about half the time, which is far better than any Democrat.

Instead of violating Reagan's Eleventh Commandment and trashing Republicans, we should be doing something positive.

Such as developing strong candidates for future elections and creating conservative momentum to counter the Vilsack/Harkin death machine.

Darn, I missed the meeting in C.R. Oh, well.

Leach is quite a speaker. He always comes across as a gentleman and a deep thinker. But, immediately after the 2000 election, when he came out and said we need to eliminate the Electoral College, I decided the intellectual gentleman bit is just a ruse.

Because, when a man representing a smallish state like Iowa says we need to eliminate the Electoral College, he's either not interested in serving the people of his state, or he's utterly clueless about the purpose and value of the E.C.

Leach is pretty much a fiscal conservative and social liberal. People will likely remember him for holding Clinton's feet to the fire. For any other faults he may have, it seems character matters very much to Jim Leach.

We in the 2nd District could do a lot worse, especially considering communist Iowa City and blue-collar Cedar Rapids. I will be pleasantly surprised if a Dem doesn't win his seat when he retires.

Think GABLE!!!

Good point. Even if he is a Republican, a great many of the sheeple Dems around here surely bleed a black-and-gold shade of blue.

My thoughts exactly. Big question: Does the shadow of the Tigerhawk extend into Des Moines County?

I think we'll have to convince him he's needed. But that's a job for *Senator* Leach. We can do the grunt work if we get an agreement from him to run.
