Addressed the ExtraOrdinary Technology conference in Salt Lake City on Saturday, July 31, 2004, 2:30 pm. Reverse-teardrop shape is created aerodynamically on existing vehicles through the installation of a hyperbolic shaped wing that allegedly builds a vortex ahead of the vehicle, resulting in 3x mileage.

This was the theme of Robert Pattersons presentation on creating a method of gliding through a medium without resistance, whether on the surface of the earth, under water, or in space.
When the Chicken lays an egg, which end comes out first: the tapered end or the blunt end? Patterson said that the blunt end comes first, and the taper helps push the egg out. This might seem counter-intuitive to the way our automobiles are shaped today, he continued. The solution he presented was a retrofit device that fits on the car to create a vortex out in front of the car, artificially creating the blunt end for the egg effect. Combine the push and pull into one smooth motion, is the idea, he said.
Another analogy that he used was the whip action ducting that has a crack the whip type of effect at the vortex. The Tornado-in-a-can is another manifestation of the unusual properties of this vortex phenomenon and the unexpected energy gain achieved. Jokingly, he said the average toilet is a hypervortex super conversion system.
At the conclusion of his presentation, Patterson took a group of conference attendees to the parking lot to show them a Ram Implosion Wing built by another attendee at the conference. It was mounted on the top of his van toward the rear of the vehicle. Resembling a rams horn, it is like an AWACS antenna on an aircraft. The main portion of the symmetrical wing is hyperbolic, with a final upward taper toward the end of the turn at the extremes of the wing. The horizontal orientation of the wing is parallel to the plane of the road. It appeared to be composed of some kind of foam, covered over by fiberglass, topped with a coat of paint. Patterson recommend that the surface be dimpled similar to a golf ball to decrease the laminar viscosity as it goes through the air.
Patterson claims his invention can triple mileage, all other factors remaining the same. His associate, also present, vouched for the claims and shared a few anecdotal stories in private. He said that the vortex went nearly 100 feet in front of the van, and that he could effect a small trailer on a car in front of him by steering left and right. He also said that when he passed a semi truck that the normal grabbing of the vehicle in the semi's wake was absent.
Patterson said he is presently in negotiations with a company to produce the units commercially.
In tests, he said he has gotten 100 27 miles per gallon from a V-8 van. If the wing can be automated by computer, he predicts that much greater mileage can be expected.
Patterson described unusual phenomenon he as observed while driving a vehicle thus fitted. We watched flies on the hood stay in place until we were traveling over 60 mph. Streamers on the surface of the vehicle stand perpendicular, rather than parallel to the vehicle.
The wing works on some of the principles of vortex physics described by Viktor Schauberger, who Patterson cited several times
Patterson revealed that he invented the wing shape by studying ancient archeology and artifacts. He has found what he believes to be many references to modern physics in ancient statues. In his presentation, he spent several minutes giving his interpretation of the symbols found on a 6000 year old Japanese statue that resembled an astronaut, proposing how it contains many clues about knowledge of quantum physics and energy.
He said his design for the Ram Impolosion Wing was a result of studying that statue for several years. He claims to have back-engineered an optical waveguide from ancient schematics. He said he has also built a quantum electro-gravitic device. When he built a lifter, it started spinning on its own. He commented that quantum physics is encoded in every ancient artifact unearthed. He also stated that we are nickels and dimes away from wormhole technology.
His unique talent of combining ancient knowledge with modern science made for an interesting presentation. He is preparing a book to be published soon.
Screen this one for me, guys.
Couldn't we dimple the entire surface of a car like a golf ball?
Over 10,000 MPG?
Put me down for the "I don't believe it " side.
Shameless plug for pseudo-scientific crap linked on Coast-to-Coast's website.
He was doing fine until he said that.
Now all we need is some giant chickens, willing to stand on the freeway.
Here we go again, seems there are 10 of these a week now days, and they are all seeking investors.
Friction causes more drag on a car then pressure. A golf ball is the opposite, so pressure drag rules, the dimples increase friction but not as much as the decrease in pressure drag.
That is funny, but it makes sense...Now that it has been said out loud (sic) it will be done by some college physics class.
Oh...I thought the tapered end was to keep the chicken's b---hole from slamming shut...?
The original post has a strike through the 100 and left the 27 alone. So i assumed it was 27 MPG in a shaggin wagon...not bad.
I don't understand that sentence. I am curious about triple the mileage claims. Different vehicles would certainly have varying characteristics with respect to air resistance but the claims seem suspicious.
Come to Oklahoma in the spring and you will see quite a few cars with the dimple effect!
LOL....my daughter has her BS in Physics and I was about to send this to her.......but I haven't figured out if it's meant to be a joke, or BS.....
Nikola Tesla, is that you trolling?
