Its the end of an era. I don't think any one misses the disappearance of the old MSM monopoly. In their heyday, Jennings, Rather and Brokaw were the force of its expression. Now there's no one in television who will exert the influence they had. Its certainly a welcome blessing.

The contrast between the President and those who hate him could not be more apparent. I don't think we're the only ones who note the difference--and it became evident in the last election.

Here! Here! I figured when I heard he died I thought here we go for the next few days about what an icon he is etc. Prayers to his family but I never understood him becoming an American citizen since he was so anti American. "When you want to hunt a fox, you don't dress up as a hunter....you become the fox." (from the movie "Red Dawn", paraphrased)
"The reason that the wolf is in sheep's clothing is because there's no other way that the wolf would be let inside the door." (heard it from somewhere)

I've retrained myself from writing similarly on his obituary threads.
Everything we complain today about the MSM and the fight on Islamic terrorism was started by Jennings. Look even at his "even handed" comments during the Olympic Massacre of Israeli athletes.
Before CNN and the rest, there was Peter Jennings and his buddy Ted at Nightline.

Looks like Peter enjoyed the high life...

Wasn't he the guy who said that America had a temper tantrum, explaining the stunning Republican takeover of Congress and the Senate in 1994?

"Will" have it? Did you catch any of Good Morning America? Devoted 2 full hours to a "tribute" to Peter Jennings. I only caught about one minute of it before having to change the channel--the ol' gag reflex kicked in.

Today the MSM doesn't pretend to be "objective." They've become for all practical extents and purposes, a replacement opposition for the feckless Democrats.

Yes, that's right. It was like a body blow to the media liberals. And it still continues to be their worst nightmare.

I'm with you.
The sad part is... the generation of my parents is passing. Jennings was my mothers age.

I will forever remember PJ's snide commentary following the 1994 Republican success in capturing the House. PJ spoke dismissively of the "temper-tantrum" he witnessed by the vote tallies.
To: ImpotentRage
All the accolades being given to Jennings is a bit over the top - in my opinion. What accolades? Are you referring to FReeper posts? Those weren't "accolades", those were sincere wishes on anyone who passes away. That doesn't mean Jennings is an idol all of a sudden. We know what he did, we're just not going to stoop to DU's level.
To: goldstategop
Yea - I for one don't like being accused of having a temper tantrum simply because I vote for the GOP.

On the bright side he's likely enjoying a reunion with his great buddy Yasser Arafat.
Too bad Hanan Ashrawi isn't there yet to also keep him company.

Great article. The accolades on some of the other PJ-is-dead threads are nauseating. He hated America. He should be remembered for what he was - an enemy infiltrator.
