I received the following e-mail from CODEPINK: ---
Dear CODEPINK Supporter,
Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq, is holding vigil in Crawford, Texas until she gets a meeting with George Bush. She has some simple questions to ask him: Why did you kill my son? What did my son die for? If the cause is so noble, why dont you send your twins? She also has a clear demand: Honor our sacrifices by bringing our nation's sons and daughters home from a war based on lies and deceptions.
On Saturday, as Cindy marched towards the ranch where Bush is vacationing for 33 days, she and her supporters, including CODEPINK cofounder Diane Wilson, were stopped by local sheriffs, who pushed them into a ditch with fire ants in 100 degree heat. Cindy was undeterred: I am not leaving until I meet with George Bush and he answers my questions about the death of my son. This is the beginning of the end of the war in Iraq, she said. Inspired by the power of Cindys determination Diane pledged that CODEPINK would join her in solidarity by staging a hunger strike. Diane has already begun her fast and many of us are making our way to Crawford to join her, including Ann Wright, former US Army colonel and senior diplomat who resigned after 35 years of service because of the Iraq war. (Cindy, Diane and Ann all have powerful essays in our book Stop The Next War Now: http://www.codepinkalert.org//article.php?id=325).
Knowing that every day lives are being lost in the war on Iraq, Cindy, Diane and Ann have taken an uncompromising position. This is a powerful moment in our struggle that cannot be overlooked by any of us who care deeply about the lives that are being wasted in this immoral war. When we are given the opportunity to witness someone elses courage in the face of struggle, it is a gift. An even greater gift comes when we are presented with the possibility of joining boldly in that struggle.
Here are ways you can stand with them (click here for more info: http://www.demaction.org/dia/organizations/codepink/signUp.jsp?key=530):
- Come to Crawford or donate money or miles so others can come
- Fast in solidarity from home
- Spread the word by contacting the press
This vigil and fast follows in the footsteps of all those throughout history who have taken extreme action, putting their own needs aside to save our humanity. We are reminded of another great soul, Robin Cooke, former British Foreign Secretary who, in 2003, resigned from Blairs cabinet in protest of the invasion of Iraq. Cooke died on Saturday, but his courageous example lives on for all of us to follow until the last foreign soldier leaves Iraq.
In solidarity, Dana, Farida, Gael, Jodie, Medea, Nancy, Rae, and Tiffany
P.S. Please join us in Washington DC on September 24-26 as we rally for the troops to come home (http://www.demaction.org/dia/organizations/codepink/signUp.jsp?key=443) and make sure you list your reason to get out of Iraq on onemillionreasons.org and pass it on to others (http://www.onemillionreasons.org/).
To help sustain our work and actions, please consider making a donation to CODEPINK today (http://www.codepinkalert.org/donate).
Remember several Friday nights ago at the Code Pinko FReep at Walter Reed when dear Gael crossed to our side of the street and challenged us, "Why aren't YOU in Iraq?" That was right before the lady LEO told her to get her butt back on her side of the street.
I notice sweet Gael is a signer of this email. Maybe she's going to Crawford and sit on the fire ant mound with Cindy while waiting for President Bush. LOL
Bush did meet with her earlier. After that meeting she said
"I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis," Cindy said after their meeting. "I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith."

She is now whoring out her sons sacrifice, service and memory for her own celebrity. She is a whore.
Fine. Starve yourselves to death in your attempt to hijack our foreign policy. We, if we still have any common sense, will be happy to ignore you. Whatever the real reason for the Iraq war turns out to be, you've got some nerve starving yourselves in an attempt to force us to give in to the barbarians!
Hey, Cindy, go ahead. Dance on your son's grave. Dance, Cindy, dance!
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!
Her son VOLUNTEERED to serve his COUNTRY and he knew the RISK involved!!!
She DISHONORS him and DISGRACES herself.
She needs to SHUT UP and go home!!!
Hey, President Bush didn't kill your son. The ENEMY killed your son.
This lady has ceased to be a grieving mother and is now a certified koolaid-drinking Bush-bashing moonbat.
Her son deserved a better mother.
Maybe. But I think EVERYONE on this thread has lost the TRUE TRAGEDY HERE...
local sheriffs, who pushed them into a ditch with fire ants in 100 degree heat.
And the ANTS! Don't forget the ants! They are worse than Sharks with death lasers....
The last I heard, this is an all VOLUNTEER MILITARY. These folks signed on to defend our Freedoms. Each life lost is tragic and unforgetable. That said, we are, as a nation, where we are today because of the brave, dedicated men and women that have fought and died for this great Country. Go read history Ms. CODE PINK, and HONOR THE SACRIFICE your son made. WE IN THE USA are thankful and proud of him.
Folks who can stand the stench will tell us if it's anything significant.
Oh Lord, fire ants, horse flies, mosquitos, chiggers, ticks, and 100 degree heat. I guess they have left for sure by now. The pics I saw showed them wearing shorts and sandles, not really equipped for critter defence.
ROTFLMAO just conjuring up a mind's eye picture...
Shame on you mom, what way is this to honor your son's service to our country.
NO! That's what this Marxist witch wants. She wants her 15 mintues of fame, and she wants the boost to her profile that a meeting with the President would give her.
That isn't necessarily true. Not all families have loving relationships, and many young people join the military to get away from an unhappy home life. Giving birth does not make someone a mother.
President Bush should not meet with her. Should he meet with every mourning family? Just the ones who call him a "killier?" I'm sorry for the young man. But his mother dishonors him. Someone in her family needs to talk sense to her.
I most humbly and gratefully salute her son. However, I neither salute nor sympathize with this Marxist witch.
