...good for you! I'm pretty sure that the Lord would have you give your offerings someplace else -- like a church that tries to save souls and redirect hearts and lives to follow Jesus, in a personal relationship with Him.
The episode has proven to be an interesting test of the minister and congregation. When this story first broke about a year ago, the minister said nothing.
When it finally hit the front page of the local newspaper (the NYT), he literally stuck his finger in the air, and waited to see which way the wind was blowing. HE EVEN POINTED OUT THAT SOME JEWS ARE OPPOSED TO THE SECURITY WALL, as if the existence of Jewish fools justified his church's anti-semitism.
Finally, the relevant congregational committees put the hammer down saying this is just bleepin' idiocy.
Nonetheless, the minister's cowardly response sticks in my throat, and it will be a very VERY cold day in hell before he sees a nickel from me, above and beyond the customary donations to fund the childrens' programs.
