The majority of horribly abused children aren't serial killers, but essentially all serial killers of which evidence is known (with the possible exception of Dahmer) endured either horrible sexual abuse, physical abuse, a severe head injury, or various combinations of the above, as childen.
These folks mainly have a problem with faulty wiring. Child abuse causes serial killing about the same as 2 glasses of milk per day. Don't buy it.
What I would more likely buy is that parents of serial killers and other miscreants share genes that predisposes them to this type of behavior.
