Aug. 15, 2005 issue -

As British police closed in on two of the alleged July 21 bombers in London, one suspect yelled out, "I've got rights!" That small detail speaks volumes about the evolving nature of terrorism in Europe. The cry, in English, indicated a more than passing familiarity with British law—not to mention, ironically, a full appreciation of the legal protections offered by the very society terrorists seek to destroy. It also suggests the degree to which the London bombings have turned the conventional wisdom about terrorism on its head. These jihadists weren't struggling immigrants, materially deprived and living resentfully on the fringe. They were Britons, raised on the sceptr'd isle and living lives with prospects.

In many ways, they conform to the demographic portrait sketched by forensic psychiatrist Marc Sageman, whose recent study of 400 terrorists found that 75 percent came from the middle or upper classes. A similar proportion hold professional or semi-professional jobs, and two thirds went to college. They weren't raised in poverty or under Middle Eastern despots, but on PlayStations, Nike and the European Convention on Human Rights. Why on earth, their perplexed fellow citizens ask, would they wage war on their own countrymen?

Um, neither were the 9/11 hijackers.

Where's Newsweak been the past 4 years? I guess wetting yourself over possible Koran mistreatment is too time-consuming to do real reporting.

Scary stuff. We need to start executing these jihadis and would-be jihadis.

As if this were surprising. It isn't any different than the Communist revolution in Russia or Communist parties in Europe. It had lots of members who were middle or upper middle class in their origins.

Yes, it does. Because it says that this "suspect" felt that he was shielded from harm by his rights. However, scratching the surface only slightly makes one understand that those rights derive from a sense of community. If the neighbors all agree that your rights are forfeit, then you are attempting to shield yourself with mere words. Only the respect for a given notion of liberty and individual worth makes those rights realities, something capable of shielding anyone from anything.

Yet the homicidal madmen of Islam attack the roots of the culture that cherishes those very rights. It is the ultimate act of hypocrisy to claim protection from the society one has so egregiously offended, when the protection arises from the society one is seeking to destroy!

Put another way, Christian forebearance is the only thing keeping us from bombing Islam back to the Stone Age (which, admittedly, is a short trip for them).

Yes this is true. But bombing them from the face of the earth is the ONLY thing that will keep them from bombing US back to the stone age.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." -- John Adams, October 11, 1798

It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ! For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship.
Patrick Henry (1736-1799)

"Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian."

– U.S. Supreme Court 1892, Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States

Exactly. Islam is a spoiled little girl kicking an older boy in the shins, knowing he's not going to hit back. They're using our virtue against us all they can.

Christians got tired of this garbage before - we call that period "the crusades".

If they keep pushing us, they'll eventually get their "holy war", but they're definitely not gonna like it when they see it.

What the Islamic apologists refuse to see is that this IS a holy war. We didn't create it, and we're not prosecuting it as one, but the savages don't leave much room for doubt. They consistently refer to it as "jihad," which, although it has many meanings, in this context is without question a holy WAR.

In that context, PC is not only pernicious, it is fatal. We must respond in kind or we risk accommodating ourselves right out of existence.

I would suggest that bombing them back to the Azoic would be a better choice, if it comes to that..

Because, from the time they enter the school system, the are indoctrinated with anti-European/Anti-American/anti-Christian/anti-white rhetoric. It is no wonder that as soon as they can, they latch onto an ideology that lets them fulfill the destructive propagandist brainwashing of the educated elite. They are just finalizing the instructions they have been given since they were old enough to wipe their own hineys.
