Zarqawi 'to attack Europe'
28/08/2005 19:01  - (SA)

Washington - Iraq's most wanted militant, Jordanian Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who, as al-Qaeda's pointman in Iraq has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks, is overseeing preparations for a major attack in Europe, Time magazine claimed on Sunday.

Citing European intelligence reports, Time said Zarqawi "has been overseeing preparations by highly trained operatives for a large-scale terrorist attack in Europe".

Time did not specify the origins of the intelligence reports, but said Zarqawi has spoken of sleeper cells in Turkey and Iran "in communications with another al-Qaeda leader".

The reports imply that these cells may be in contact with European jihadist groups that previously had no links to al-Qaeda, Time claimed.

Disparate

"The fear is we'll see these disparate, relatively inexperienced groups around Europe hook up with Afghan-trained terror cells, all under the influence of Zarqawi," independent French terrorism expert Roland Jacquard told Time.

European officials say the reports are based in part on US officials' interrogation of suspected al-Qaeda deputy Abu Faraj al-Libbi, captured last May in Pakistan.

Zarqawi has written to al-Libbi about setting up camps in Jordan, Turkey, Syria or Lebanon, European officials claim.

He hoped the camps would provide instruction in European languages to facilitate jihadi attacks in Iraq and Europe, Time claimed.

Zarqawi heads the so-called al-Qaeda Organisation in the Land of Two Rivers and has a $25m bounty on his head.

His group has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks against US and Iraq forces, as well as the killings of foreign diplomats in Iraq.

Salafi Jihadi Trend Theorist Turns against "Al Qaeda" and Issues a Religious Opinion of the Impermissibility of Suicidal Operations

29/08/2005

London – The most prominent theorist of the Salafi Jihadi trend has turned against "Al Qaeda" organization and issued a religious opinion prohibiting the suicidal operations.

Under the title of "Reasons for Prohibiting Suicidal Operations" Abdel Mon'em Mustafa Abu Halima, the Syrian fundamentalist theorist, who is known as Abu Naseer Al Tartusi, said in his website, which is carrying his name, "I have received more than 1000 questions on these operations. For me, they are more of suicide than to martyr operations. They are prohibited for various reasons."

Al Tartusi, who is a resident of London, has drawn conclusions based on Prophetical sayings such as, "Whoever hurts a Muslim has no Jihad reward". He said, "This is with regard to whoever hurts a Muslim, then what about those who murder or intentionally murder a Muslim?" He also quoted the saying of the holy Prophet (PBUH), "Whoever murders a non-Muslim enjoying protection under the Islamic state, would never smell the scent of Paradise, whose scent can be smelled seventy years away."

In his religious opinion, which was issued on his website, dated on August 24, and has been circulated by some Islamic websites with so much rage and debate, Al Tartusi said, "Suicidal operations do mean that a person is committing suicide, which is contradicting with tens of valid and righteously interpreted religious texts, which prohibit that a person commits suicide, whatever the incentive was, as Allah says, "Spend for the sake of Allah and do not throw yourselves into peril." 2:195, and the prophet says, in the verified Prophetic saying, "Whoever commits suicide with an item in this world would be tortured with it on Judgment Day." Sheikh Halima pointed out, "We should not neglect or tolerate with the most significant energies and cadres of the nation, and get them involved in a limited similar act, which does not have safe consequences or results."

He confirmed, "This is a mistake, according to all considerations and criteria. It is a religious mistake, as it is a type of forcing the person going into battle to commit suicide with his explosive suicidal operation, while he is not convinced of its legitimacy or permissibility, or that he considers it closer to suicide more than anything else."

Strange that he does not mention America.

I would guess the inexperienced groups are the MS 13 type gangs and the
anachrists, nazi groups, etc.

Wonder if joining these groups together has anything to do with the report that OBL is going to come and join the fight?
