OIL $56.60 per barrel
Do you know of any reason it would spike like this?
How much was the jump before 9/11?
Some would say oil. I don't know. Someone seems scared about something.
profit taking?
The gold jump for 911 was broken up in a couple of days (as I can remember), but not a $9 jump in one day... I'm pulling from memory since I don't have good gold charts back that far.
That's one heck of a jump!
profit taking from what?
..........."Someone seems scared about something".....
I can only think of some truly horrifying scenarios to make "someone" want to hoard gold.
This fills me with more angst than the AQ videos. Sure hope there is some other valid reason and I'm just worrying too much. Seems to be alot of that around here, with good reason, I suspect.
Oil was $65.00/bbl yesterday, and now it's $56.60? Somebody sold off their interest big time.
Sorry, just double checked - Oil at $66.00, not $56.60. Okay, everything is up.
Just damn.
It looks as if people are buying, not selling. When price goes up, people are buying.
$66? WoW.
I did not see that! Was that during the day or was that a hiccup in the system?
Your post 781 said oil was $56.60 a barrel, so I thought that was a pretty big drop from $65 yesterday. Just checked the news and saw that it was $66, so I agree with you: people are buying.
I guess people are forecasting an even bigger hit on supply, possibly from confrontation with Iran or from terrorism.
Just saw it on Fox business news
Holy smokes!!!!!!!!!!!
It is $65.60

During this time I had time to mull over the Israel pull-out that starts on Monday, August 15th. I think that the oil and gold prices are tied to this event. The main nagging feeling that I have been having is that while the Israeli troops are engaged in the Gaza Pullout...will Syria, Egypt, Iran, et.al take advantage of this momentous event and stage an attack? Just keeps running through my mind...the Israeli troops and the Jewish settlers are in my thoughts and prayers. This is an atrocity, the Arabs will not be happy until they have "vanquished the Jews into the Sea". This pull-out will not change or help the peace process. The walls that have been built have been working. This Islamic problem has a resolution that no one wants to face...and no amount of appeasement will ever work.
Facts, Figures About Israel's Gaza Pullout
Starting next week, Israel will pull out of the Gaza Strip and a small part of the West Bank, removing 9,000 Jewish settlers from their homes. It will mark the first time Israel dismantles Jewish settlements in either the West Bank or Gaza, both captured in the 1967 Mideast War and claimed by the Palestinians for a future state....
Israel Stages Final Drill before Gaza Withdrawal
KEREM SHALOM, Israel - In a final drill, thousands of Israeli troops prepared Wednesday for some of the worst scenarios in next week's Gaza pullout, from Palestinian mortar fire to settler violence and equipment failure...
I find it interesting when celestial events coincide with upheaveals here on earth.
Meteor 'Outburst' Expected Friday Morning
"...I read somewhere else about a threat around August 18th."
I haven't read anything about this date, but think about the pattern of recent events. London bombings were Thursday July 7. Second attempted bombings, (2 weeks later,) Thursday July 21. Two weeks after that, the Al-Zawahiri video was released on Thursday August 4th. Two weeks from that would be Thursday the 18th.
Platinum also up about $12, but not as much as gold percentage wise. Silver is only up marginally.
