The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

It's hardly a unique fashion statement for a mass transit rider: a Yankees-style cap, and a "New York" sweat shirt.

But the New York Police Department is teaming with British authorities to determine whether those items were worn by suspects in the London terror cases to send a "purposeful message" to the city, according to an NYPD officials.

David Cohen, the NYPD's deputy commissioner of intelligence, raised the concern earlier this week at a security briefing for business leaders at police headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

Al Qaeda claiming responsibility for attacks

AL QAEDA CLAIM FOR RED SEA ATTACKS

Friday, August 19, 2005; Posted: 9:35 a.m. EDT (13:35 GMT)

(CNN) -- An al Qaeda-linked group has claimed responsibility for rocket attacks Friday that targeted but missed two U.S. military ships in the Jordanian Red Sea port of Aqaba.

The three Katyusha rockets hit a warehouse and a hospital in Aqaba, killing a Jordanian soldier, and struck the nearby Israeli port city of Eilat.

A second Jordanian soldier was severely wounded. No U.S. military personnel were injured.

"Zionists are our rightful target," according to the statement signed by al Qaeda in Levant and Egypt, the Martyr Abdallah Azzam Brigades.....

Steven Emerson Appears on National Geographic Channel's "Inside 9/11" Special, August 21 & 22

Steven Emerson will be appearing in the National Geographic Channel's "Inside 9/11," a four-hour mini-series event airing over two nights, on Sunday, August 21, and Monday, August 22, at 9 pm ET. National Geographic Channel describes the series as follows:

Inside 9/11 spans decades and circles the globe to lay bare the roots of al Qaeda, beginning with the 1978 Soviet-Afghan War and the transformation of Osama bin Laden from fundraiser to terrorist mastermind. The tornado was just south of where I was at the time but I was smashed with high winds, downed trees, torential rain and lots of lightning. Right in the thick of it! I love a good storm. I NEED a good storm now and then.

Another tornado touched down north of here in Monroe County.

Good morning to one and all. I almost consider FR/TM my morning "office". Even if I don't post, I still check-in so that I really know what is going on in the world. Now if I can just find a way for my TM "morning office" time to produce income!

Since the devil moonbats follow the moon phases...just wanted to put it out here on the TM that today, August 19th is considered a "blue moon", it usually means the second full moon in one month...but this one is a little more special...I have included an article below. So today is the 19th...and a special full moon...and missiles are flying in the Mid-East. Just another day at TM.

Once in a Blue Moon Happens Tonight (8/19/05)

A blue moon can either be the second full moon in a single calendar month or, according to the old "Maine Farmer's Almanac," the third full moon in a three-month cycle that has four full moons. Tonight's blue moon is the second type.

Even worse, this isn't the same blue moon we've long grown accustomed to, i.e., the second full moon in a single calendar month. According to the old "Maine Farmer's Almanac," this full moon owes its blueness to an archaic lunar seasonal calendar. When one of those three-month cycles produces four full moons instead of three, the season's third full moon is called blue.

Thus, under the old seasonal definition (which prevailed until the middle of the 20th century), the next blue moon will occur in May 2008. Under the modern two-full-moons-per-month interpretation, the next blue moon is scheduled for June 2007.

Woman charged with trying to smuggle Chinese immigrants across border

DETROIT A 21-year-old Wayne County woman faces federal charges for allegedly trying to smuggle Chinese immigrants into the U-S from Canada.

Delecia Carter is the third person charged in Detroit's federal court with such a crime this week. She was arrested yesterday after customs agents found four Chinese women hiding in the back of her Cadillac Escalade.

Court documents say Carter told investigators that a Middle Eastern man offered her four-thousand dollars to drive the women into Michigan.

Najla Abdullah told RDU airport security workers that she had a stun gun with her.


RALEIGH -- Nebraska-born Najla Abdullah, 33, was nervous about moving with her two daughters, ages 7 and 14, to the United Arab Emirates, where she was taking a job for a year as a first-grade teacher.
"I'm by myself with two girls, and I'm traveling overseas alone," she said.

So she brought along her stun gun -- a self-defense device, fashioned to look like a cell phone, that delivers up to 180,000 volts of electricity -- with her Wednesday for a scheduled one-way trip from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to the Middle Eastern country.

What Abdullah didn't expect was to find herself booked into Raleigh's jail and charged with a misdemeanor of carrying a concealed weapon. But her decision to carry the device on the plane instead of in her checked luggage, combined with a one-way plane ticket to an overseas destination, set off airport security measures (snip)

Body of Pilot of Cypriot Plane that Crashed in Greece not Found Yet

Athens. The body of the pilot of a Cypriot plane that crashed near Athens has not been found yet, Greek TV Alpha reported. His family has not tried to contact him and no journalist has managed to contact his relatives.
German mass media contacted some of his colleagues and asked them about the pilot’s professional and personal characteristics. They expressed contradictory opinions, which makes the figure of the pilot even more mysterious.

Man Removed from Chicago-Bound Amtrak Train (happened 8/17 reported 8/19/05)

ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) — Police confiscated thousands of dollars in cash and gold along with identification from the U.S., Mexico and Canada from a man authorities removed from a Chicago-bound Amtrak train. Officials said the man had exposed himself and rummaged through other passengers' luggage.

Conductors on the train from New York to Chicago notified police, who took the man into custody around 5 a.m. Wednesday at a station in this city about 25 miles southwest of Cleveland.

The man refused to give his real name, would not answer questions and requested a lawyer, according to police reports. In his bags, police found two Canadian passports, birth certificates and Social Security cards with different names, a Mexican identification card and medical records with different identities.

Police also confiscated $1,900 in U.S. dollars, $5,900 in Canadian currency and a small gold bar. Police conducted a fingerprint check with Canadian authorities and are awaiting a positive identification, said Sgt. Mike Behney. The man will be held until federal authorities complete an investigation, Behney said

Two Flights Make Emergency Landings in Fort Lauderdale (7:00 a.m. today 8/19/05)

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (AP) -- A US Airways flight from Fort Lauderdale to Washington DC is being delayed. It was forced to return to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport this morning with a cabin pressure problem. Airport spokesman Jim Reynolds says the Boeing 737 carrying 120 passengers reported the problem shortly after taking off at 6:50 a.m.

Reynolds says the pilot burned some fuel before landing safely at the airport, and no injuries were reported. The flight is set to take off again at 10 a.m. Reynolds says another plane -- an Express-dot-Net cargo flight -- returned safely to the airport after a fire warning light came on.

Plane of Helios Airline Company Made Emergency Landing in London (UK - 8/19/05)

London. A plane of the Cypriot airline company Helios has made an emergency landing in London, RIA Novosti announced.

According to the information a passenger Boeing 737 has landed at the London’s Luton airport because of fears for malfunctioning of the movable sections of the plane’s wings.

On 14 August a Boeing 737 of the same airline company crashed near Athens, Greece, killing 121 people.
