"Island" was kinda silly, and when AMC aired it a few weeks ago they padded it with way too many commericals. But I thought it was okay--it's not often that we get to see Wayne in distress like that.

"The Shootist" and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"--two of my all time favorite movies! Wayne couldn't have picked a better movie to end everything on than "The Shootist". It's perfect.

I love the Shootist, but hate to watch it knowing it was his final film and like his character was dying of cancer....

I hate to sound like some old curmudgeon, but they sure don't make 'em like Stewart and Wayne anymore.

I also got In Harm's Way (John Wayne at Pearl Harbor with a host of other known actors.) When they run that on TV they edit out 20-30 minutes of the film so it doesn't make as much sense as the full length theatre version.

I wonder if that happen with Island in the Sky... cut down for commercials.
