U.S. Marines lower the American flag flying over the White House to half staff at midnight Tuesday, September 10, to mark the first anniversary of September 11. Pictured in the background is the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

Sitting in front of the rebuilt section of the Pentagon, service personnel and families listen to President Bush speak at the Pentagon Observance, September 11, 2002. "One year ago, men and women and children were killed here because they were Americans. And because this place is a symbol to the world of our country's might and resolve," said the President. "Today, we remember each life. We rededicate this proud symbol and we renew our commitment to win the war that began here." [Many Americans are unaware that infants and school children were among those killed on 9/11/01.]

Attending the Pentagon observance ceremony, President Bush and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld say the Pledge of Allegiance before speaking, September 11, 2002.

Thank you, Wolfstar, for this tremendous salute to President Bush et al. The overall impression from all the pics is that he sincerely loves and respects our troops; Their enthusiastic smiles and respect for him as a leader and friend to them is loud and clear....mutual love and respect between them all.
