Have faith in the market, everybody. Even at today's prices, the inflation-adjusted cost of energy is lower than in most of the prior century. Things are always improving in the long run.

You know, if our wages went up as fast as gas, it wouldn't be a problem.

Until then, it's a big problem.

In 1965 I made $10,000 and gasoline was $0.199 a gallon, and cigarettes were $0.10 a pack. Now gasoline is $2.59, cigs are $5 a pack and fortunately I made $130,000 in inflation-adjusted dollars. It all works out. I had to cut a few things from the budget, though. Food, movies, cigarettes.
