Yes, Bush is in charge.
McCain is not in charge, nor is Kristol.
I disagree with any attempt to play with the naming of what is a war, that stated...
according to Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, speaking here as Rumsfeld's cat's-paw
Give it a rest would you General Kristol? You aren't exactly the most unbiased citizen on the planet where Rummy is concerned and This should, isn't, but should be beneath you.
Bush stays. Myers stays. Rummy stays. And you remain in the wings to carry the water for McCain in '08, and the majority of us know it.

Some people have much too much time on their hands.
Keep in mind that Kristol is McCain's mouthpiece and there is no one in government who hates Rumsfeld more than McCain.

Bush calls it a war, Rummy a strugle, so what? We all know what it means. Kristol reads too much into this and likes to stir things up within the Bush administration.

Kristol's simplistic argument is not helpful to the War on Terror for which he feigns support:
"But not-so-well-hidden under the pseudo-tough talk of "spine-stiffening" is the inescapable whiff of weakness and defeatism. Rumsfeld either doesn't believe we can win, or doesn't think we can maintain political support for staying, or doesn't believe winning is worth the cost. So we're getting out, under cover of talking about how "political progress is necessary to defeat the insurgency."
This is truly a statement that makes up in naïveté what it lacks in credulity. Has Kristol never listened to the SecDef in a press conference or studied his transformation and strategy inititatives? Rather than playing word games, why doesn't Kristol concentrate on making a valued contribution to the war effort? We can conclude that Iraq is proceeding according to plan, i.e., to train Iraqi soldiers to take the place of U.S. troops, and Kristol doesn't like it one damn bit.
