If we leave them alone and stop "stealing" their oil, they'll all be dead within months either through starvation or infighting over who know how to please Allah the bestest.

They can't operate successful societies with drug-lord money to buy everything created in the countries living in the 21st century, so what would happen if they were broke?

It doesn't explain a lot of things Spok. Like the Phillipines, Kashmir, Chechnya, Thailand and heck, even China. Without us in either Afghanistan and Iraq, this would all still be going on.
