What would you suggest we do about the 97% of illegal aliens who don't work in the agriculture industry?

1. Establish what "guest workers" we actually need or do not need in agricultural and non-agricultural sectors.

2. Write the quotas of the law to reflect those needs.

3. Isuue the Guest Worker Program legal permits.

4. Allow a 90 day amnesty period for all ilegal workers who did not get a permit to leave the U.S. without any legal consequences.

5. Ninety days after the Guest Worker Program is enacted , have surprise, random inspections of businesses by Federal law enforcement agencies which would require documentation of a legal Guest Worker permit or Green Card or proof of U.S. citizenship for all workers.

6. Illegal workers would be deported.

7. Employers would be subject to a $50,000 fine and/or 30 days in jail for every illegal worker discovered.

That's what I would do.

Thanks for the comments in your post #193. It looks like you've come up with a well thought out plan. Now we'll just have to wait and see if our federal government comes up with something similar.

The labor department already does that.

2. Write the quotas of the law to reflect those needs.

The labor department already does that.

3. Isuue the Guest Worker Program legal permits.

The State Department already does that

4. Allow a 90 day amnesty period for all ilegal workers who did not get a permit to leave the U.S. without any legal consequences.

NO AMNESTY

5. Ninety days after the Guest Worker Program is enacted , have surprise, random inspections of businesses by Federal law enforcement agencies which would require documentation of a legal Guest Worker permit or Green Card or proof of U.S. citizenship for all workers.

That’s already in the law. What makes you think the Feds will enforce a law they have failed to enforce for over a decade.

6. Illegal workers would be deported.

" 6. Illegal workers would be deported."

Are you a soon to be rising star on the comedy channel?

We can not even secure our borders NOW. GWB doesn't even have the desire or balls or a combination of both to make a DENT in the numbers of illegals coming in since 911.
Since 911 illegals have been coming in at a rate 25% HIGHER than prior to that sad day. Do you REALLY think he (or any President) will have the nads / money / political gumption to actually deport 20+ million illegals?

This "guest worker" plan is a scam on the American lower and middle classses.
